Default 3GS volume drops to very low suddenly ?

Hello, I have jailbroken my 3GS (3.1.3) with spirit, but got one problem:

When I am on the phone or listening to music, all of sudden the volume drops to very low.
However, after power off and reboot, it goes back to normal. Then it happens again every a few hours.
Appreciate if you could help me out on this issue, really bothering me a lot.
(BTW, can I reset all the setting for a jailbroken 3GS? any risk?)

It might boot up the apple logo and get stuck there. If you don't have 3.1.3 shsh file, I suggest you not to do it.

Thanks. I think I got the reason, but no solutions yet.

The reason is: whenever I am running a VOIP app (say Isip, Truphone, Gizmo5...), then the iphone volume becomes very low even with the highest volume level. Once I turn off the above apps, it is back to normal.
Can anybody suggest a solution? Thanks
