help, did i destroy my phone?

i just got a 3gs, OS 3.1.3, baseband 05.12.01. i did a spirit jailbreak, then tried to use blackrain to unlock. i put the blackrain source into cydia, then installed the package. then, cydia would not restart after 30 minutes. so i did a forced restart and now my phone wont get off the apple logo (wont get back to the main screen)....

what can i do now?

I am also stuck on the apple logo. I just tried using ultrasn0w.

Did you use Blackra1n or Blacksn0w, it makes a whole lot of difference.

That happend to me all I did to fix ot was a restore then start with the jailbreak/unlock steps. Works for me 

i added the source http:blackra1n.com, then after adding, i went into the sources and clicked on blacksnow and clicked install. it installed, then cydia froze

Blacksn0w from Geohot will not work and will freeze up your Iphone. If you want to use it on BB, you can use Blacksn0wRC2 ( a revised version ), add this repo to cydia sources :
cydia.pushfix.info. But you have to uninstall Blacksn0w first.

BB is baseband also known as modem firmware.
You have to go to cydia and uninstall Blacksn0w first

If your iphone freezes at apple logo, you might have to restore again...LOL..I just saw that you have a 3g, not a problem then

You have to restore to 3.1.3 again and jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.94 but you need 3.1.2 ipsw to do that. Then install Ultrasn0w again from Cydia.

Which one are you talking about 3G or 3GS now

ok, i'm downloading custom ipsw files for 3.1.3 now, to try to restore. i don't have the old bootrom. hopefully i'll be able to restore then jailbreak with spirit, then i should use ultrasnow right?

Hold on, which one are you talking about , 3G or 3GS

If you have a 3G, then you can just restore to stock 3.1.3 and jailbreak with Redsn0w and unlock with Ultrasn0w.
If you have a 3GS, and you have the new bootrom , installing cfw will force you to restore to 4.0 .

Yes, you won't be able to restore and you will be in recovery mode unless you have 3.1.3 shsh file with Cydia, you will have to restore to official iOS 4.0...

ok, so what are my next steps? start a custom restore, let apple force me into OS4.0, then use my shsh file with cydia to get back to 3.1.3? then use ulstrasnow?

Are you now in Recovery? Hopefully you have your 3.1.3 shsh file with Cydia.
Point your hosts file to Saurik server.
Restore to 3.1.3 again
Insert your official sim card.
Run Spirit jailbreak, make sure itunes is not 9.2.
Install Ultrasn0w to unlock.
That is it.

i think i have my shsh file with cydia
how do i point my hosts file to saurik server without getting cydia running? i just have an apple on my screen.

You have to edit your hosts file :
C

windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
add this line to your host file
74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com , then save it
Do a shift key + restore ( itunes ) and select the 3.1.3 ipsw
let it restore, if it says ineligible, there is another ip, i forgot the number. Get back to me amd i will look it up for you.

when i tried to restore with custom 3.1.3 ipsw i got an error that said an unknown error occured (1604)...

I told you, you can't because you have the new bootrom, new rom does not allow any custom firmware, must be stock firmware.
