Unlock/Jailbreak on 3.1.3 with Spirit, How to Unlock/Jailbreak on iOS4?

I have a iPhone 3GS unlocked to work on t-mobile; it was unlocked using spirit and now I want to upgrade to iOS4 and unlock/jailbreak that. I read that you can't do that for some reason but I can't find a solution. Do I just upgrade the firmware officially, then do the unlock using a different method?

you read correctly... stick to 3.1.3 for now. NO UPGRADE PATH AVAILABLE at this time.. I'm in same boat. OS4 isn't that big a deal.. you can add multitasking now with the jailbreak.

sucks i've been at it for a few days now no luck.... but there should hopefully be a solution in the next week or 2... so the waiting begins!! again
