HELP PLEASE! Need to restore 3GS (3.1) without updating

Hey everyone,

I need some help. I'm selling my iphone 3GS and the key to the sale is that my phone is still running firmware 3.1 (7C144), so it's unlockable.

I'm selling my phone in a few hours. I just backed it up, and then went to restore it, and it says it will automatically update to the newest firmware. If that happens, my sale is dead.

How how how do i restore my 3GS back to factory settings, but still keep the 3.1 firmware intact?

Is it easier/less risky to manually delete everything from the phone and then sell it?

no the phone has never been jailbroken...

Restore to 3.1.3 , and put in your official sim card, let it activate.
Run Spirit jailbreak if you want to jailbreak it.

but i thought that there aren't good jailbreaks for 3.1.3 yet? The person buying my phone will want to jailbreak it, and that's why it's apparently important not to update it. You're saying if i update from 3.1 to 3.1.3 it's still jailbreakable and unlockable for use in another country? That's the reason the person wants to buy it from me.

If you are selling your Iphone as 3.1 and not jailbroken nor unlock, then just do a reset under settings and manually delete everything.

Download 3.1.3 ipsw from here iClarified - iPhone - Where To Download iPhone Firmware Files From
Do a shifr + restore to 3.1.3
Insert your official sim card
Run Spirit jailbreak from Spirit
Open up Cydia
Install Ultrasn0w.
You are then jailbroken at 3.1.3 and unlocked.
