iphone 3gs - passcode - nothing works

OK, iphone3GS, cant remember passcode, have tried iphone browser, diskaid and iphone explorer, nothing works as it is locked. Tried restore, holding the two buttons etc, all that happens is instead of triangle and itunes saying restore, the computer is saying found new hardware need drivers (which doesnt work) computer im using was not original synced with iphone, have downloaded new versions of itunes but still cant get the restore pop up?

Any ideas am at total lost

Two ideas:
-Don't steal iphones.
-Put it into DFU mode and restore.

Please do no think as my first post, I have acquired this phone by dodgy methods...... I just cant remember passcode.

I put the phone in DFU/restore mode, howver itunes never comes up with the restore pop up. It is either 'found new hardware, need drivers'....or nothing.

Any ideas?

my phone pass code is used every time i unlock my phone (which is anytime i don't use it for more than 5 minutes) i had it remembered about 4 YEARS before i entered it. There is no way it would be forgotten it, unless i just entered it and typo'd it twice in a row.

I agree with Defmute and wrassle, how can someone who owns an iPhone forget his passcode. I still think something is not right here.
