3gs Trouble :S

hey guys,

Well i was approached yesterday with a deal of a lifetime, a fairly new iphone 3gs on 3.1.2 with 05.11.07 basically ready to be unlocked and enjoyed the guy was kinda desperate so i thought to my self, could there be something wrong, however, i ignored the thought since it was loaded with apps and it is fully functional, and i took it from him....

the trouble begins...
So since i have a working custom firmware on my hands i decided to ditch the 3.1.2 one and go on to better with 3.1.3, it didnt even update... during extracting the firmware i got a 1600 pop up and the phone went into recovery, ok, spent all night trying to figure whats going on and to my surprise, i came to work in the morning, blackrained it, and it came back to life!!

Nothing was missing no apps no numbers nada, same way he gave it to me, so i went and rained it and got it unlocked, was working well, til something said to me, try restarting [just in case i wanna sell] after the restart it went into recovery, so at this point im like wtf!

So i rained it again, and it worked!! so im like ok, must be one of the newer ones with the new bootrom thingy, basically this is where i went wrong, i didnt back it up with cydia :S and said to my self let me try fixing that again with updating, same thing to the recovery screen... so i did some reading and found something about the newer bootrom and having the unlock work properly with spirit... I know spirit wont unlock, but if i got to the jailbreak i would be able to do so.. so i tried it, and thats the last time i saw the phone booted.. i totally just messed it up, did not realize i already had the rain on the device already, so i am now stuck between recovery mode and DFU...

would anybody love to shed some light on my little investment

update. it works, had to do a genuine restore with the kind people at apple, so i now have an inexpensive ipod

any idea when an unlock comes out???

Your only option is to do a restore. If you have 3.1.2 shsh on file with Cydia then you can restore.

Edit : you could have saved the unlock by editing the 3.1.3 fw, well it won't be long till the next unlock comes out.

Well someone has been reading JK buddy, as said in the first post i didn't do a back up in cydia, so i couldn't do an shsh from there..

but yea, i have been doing some reading and an unlock will be out soon,

Now im feeling to try that beta 4.0 FW, whatcha think.... hmmmmm
