    Default Rogers
I too am having a hard time getting this SIM working with ROGERS in my phone after activating it with the iPad data plan. It also keeps telling me to purchase a data plan. Playing with APN settings does nothing.

    A couple of notes

I received an SMS after it was activated from 7770 reading "DATA-ACTIVATION?success=yes"
Presumably, this was supposed to make it somewhere in the iPad - don't know if that is of any significance.

And I have parsed the information from the carrier bundle. Not sure if any of this is significant.
    Code:

I finally got this to work after the 3 attempt. I think the key is to use an inactive IMEI. I tried to use my iPhone 4 IMEI twice and got the error after entering all my info. I then pulled out an old Motorola pre paid phone and used that IMEI and it worked great. I am currently using an iPad sim in my iPhone 4!! I used unlockit.co.nz to change my APN to "broadband" and so far so good. Hope it lasts and my phone doesn't get flagged.

Does anyone know how to check their data usage from Chrome/Safari and cancel their plan before it renews?

I used the 2gb AT&T iPad data plan while on vacation in NY and it worked great. I just used a Nokia IMEI, an unactivated SIM (not a MicroSIM) from eBay, and a Vanilla Mastercard from the drugstore.

I need to cancel the plan now and I'm curious how much data I used.

    Bump.

I can log in using the email and password I signed up with, but it directs me to the page where you purchase more data. Where can I just see my data usage and account settings? Is it a different URL than the one in the OP?

I am on my second month of data and was able to use the original link (with generate IMEI and my Sim # insereted in the url) I used to log-in and once I sign in it always shows me the data usage... could it be that you are out of data and that is why?

I have no idea what the problem was but it's working now. The only difference is I'm logging in from the computer I signed up for the data plan with, whereas earlier today I was using my computer at work. Weird...

can anyone verify if it is still working? I tried in on an iPad simulator a couple times and all I get was "server stopped responding"...

Ok... looks like the server was down when I tried. Now everything's back to normal.

It is still working for me using the iPad user agent id in Safari under the "Develop Menu".

Has anyone upgraded to iTunes 9.2.1 and had no problems? I am scared to do any iPhone or iTunes upgrades that could break this.

It's still working fine, I tried it the other day. Upgrading iTunes or your phone shouldn't cause any problems, but you may need to set your APN to broadband again using Unlockit - APN Changer for your iPhone if there are any carrier updates.

kmmxracer: Did you ever have to activate your iPhone 4 or did you just buy a $199/$299 version put your modded iPad sim in change the APN and it worked?

I have my modded iPad sim working in an iPhone 3gs right now, but if I could go buy a $199 iPhone 4 today and just place this in there and change the APN I would do it immediately.

Not sure what carrier you're on but how do you get the $199 iPhone 4 hardware upgrade if you don't have a voice & data plan for it? I don't see how you could get a subsidized iPhone but only pay for an iPad data plan.

I guess that is part of my question. Does Apple make you register for a Voice/Data plan in store or is it done at home via iTunes?

Assuming you're with AT&T, to get the iPhone 4 at the subsidized $199 price, you have to sign a two year contract with a voice & data plan. You can pay $599 for a no-contract phone or get an unlocked iPhone from another country and do what you're asking, but there is no way that an iPad data plan will qualify you for the $199 price.

To answer your other question, yes, you have to register for a voice & data plan when you buy the phone - you can't just sneak the phone home and then not sign up for the plan

    Default Rogers ...
    Hi,

Did someone manage to make Rogers iPad data plan work on iPhone ?

I successfully activate the sim card using the activation url for Rogers. I used a generated IMEI from Imei Generator in Javascript

I then used the APN changer in order to use "rogers-core-appl1.apn"

When I reboot my iPhone, I cannot connect to the network. It is written "No service".

What am I doing wrong ? Is it possible to use Rogers iPad data plan with an iPhone using this technique ?

    Thank you

I am also having this problem. I have a jailbroken/unlocked AT&T iphone and am trying to use a rogers ipad activated SIM.

I activated the SIM via firefox (later realized that if you are ok with typing, the page will come up on the iphone just fine). Took my credit card info and everything, changed the APN settings, stuck the SIM in to the phone and downloaded the carrier update. I sit at No Service - been this way for 2 hours now. Tried rebooting, Hard rebooting, swapping APN settings, reseating the card, everything I can think of but I can't get service. I can log in to my ipad account from the phone with the email address I gave and see the plan registered.

    Any help?

Initially I used the IMEI that was on my iPhone. Did that to activate it and it went through OK. I've since logged on to the account access page with several different IMEIs generated from the Nokia IMEI site.
