Blacksn0w was made for more current basebands. The 2G has an old baseband that doesn't change anymore. That is why the suggestion for redsn0w should work better.

Oh well,I'm new to unlocking. So yeah. Thanks for the info,Cerote. And yeow202,chill,it's just a question. Like I have said,I'm new to unlocking. Maybe I will use redsn0w. But I would have to downgrade the phone. I don't feel like doing that though. Oh well. Thanks for the link though yeow202

Just to clarify, cuz you seem to be mixing tools/terms into one category.
Redsn0w=jailbreak which can implement the unlock automatically to 2G phones via BootNeuter
Blacksn0w=unlock for 3G or 3GS phones on 5.11.07
blacksn0w does not work on 2G, you will use BootNeuter to unlock. Which like I said, Redsn0w will automatically do for you.
If you happen to wanna know why, its cuz your baseband (what is it? 4.25.x or something...) doesnt support Blacksn0w, only Bootneuter.Last edited by i.Annie; 06-04-2010 at 01:26 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Here, this should help with the whole process. Or if you are jailbroken already the last paragraph has the unlock info for 2G.
