BRICKED iphone 3gs

Found an iphone 3gs that was unlocked and being used on tmobile. It had firmware 3.1.2 with baseband 05.11.07 .It was supposedly bricked when the seller tried to hard reset it. The phone now only shows the apple logo and does not start up. Is there a way to fix this phone? Thanks in advance.

Restore to stock 3.1.3 if you don't need unlock. By the way, how do u know it has the 3.1.2 BB ? when it is not bootable.

The seller said so, he said. I suppose lol. I think this phone is probably stuck if an unlock is needed considering you dont have the SHSH files backed up (Im assuming).

He may have to use the last ditch method or using the ssh method if the previous owner has openssh. The ssh method seems to be able to boot back the iphone for a restore ( might be too complicated for a newbie )

I get the feeling the seller did more than brick it by hard resetting. If anything a hard reset should help the phone.

I think SSHing into the phone would be difficult if someone hasnt done it before. I would put in DFU, upgrade to 3.1.3, and sell the phone. But thats just me. I dont really know what can be done if an unlock is needed to be preserved.

Can you outline the steps for the "last ditch method" as well as the ssh method. I will try both before resorting to a 3.1.3 restore since I need the sim unlock preserved. Note: I do have some openssh experience with my ipod touch.

In that first link you mentioned that you created a custom 3.1.3 ipsw. Would you be able to split it into parts and upload to a hosting site?

CanI also have the customized firmware for the "last ditch". I have an iPhone 3Gs that was JB by Spirit but do have the blackra1n JB on it. Am I correct that this last ditch firmware can be use to UNLOCK my iPhone 3Gs?

Custom or stock firmwares wont unlock your phone. They will allow you to access your phonr and be jailbroken, but unlocking is not part of it.

If I use 3.1.3 I get the message: the iPhone could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build. - this is a new message to me.

Would I follow the same steps he was given in this case?

Sorry but the issue is still relevant to the problem I am having rite now... isn't it good I read through old threads to try and solve my problems before just posting a new one at least?

Why not just install 4.3.2 using sn0wbreeze/PTools? Then you can keep your current baseband.

LOL. I hope you know how to use those tools. I don't want you coming back here and saying that you updated such and such, and now your baseband is unlockable. :P
