Activating with Official Sim Card
Hi Guys, I took the initiative to find out whether an official sim card will activate the Iphone . I am happy to announce that any official sim card for the Iphone will activate from Emergency Screen to Home Screen. It does not need to have been activated or any service on it at the moment of activation, all you need is the sim card that is meant for the Iphone will do the trick.
Here is what I did, I live in Canada and have an AT&T Iphone, I also have the original sim card. I restored my Iphone and after restoring, I was in the Emergency Screen, I had my unactivated sim and no service on it, with my Iphone connected to Itunes, it activates into Home Screen. Hope this will clear a path for those wanting to activate in other countries...enjoy it as an Ipod Touch at the moment if you can't unlock it ..

Could You tell us, is it possible to acivate iPhone 3GS (meant for ex. plan) with prepaid sim, in the same network of course?

Yes, you do not need to have Data Plan to activate, just official sim card..

Also, prepaid sims WILL activate iPhones, know this from experience.

My iPhone has german T-Mobile simlock, is it possible to use for activation for ex. dutch T-mobile sim card??
Well i guess rather not - national prefix?

Yes you are correct, Germany and Holland are two different countries, so they are locked to their own carriers, you need the associated sim card for the carrier to activate. Originally Posted by mirogster
