What version baseband/firmware do you must have in order to unlock the iphone 3g[s]? Is there anyway to tell if an iphone 3g[s] can be unlocked if it's sealed in the box?

If you are buying a new one from this point you would have to be extremely lucky to get one with 3.1.2 on it, wich is the one that can be unlocked.

Thanks cerote! So If I were buy a used one, I would look for one on 3.1.2. Could you state the baseband as well?

Look for one with baseband 5.11.


There will be no unlock for 3.1.3 it was bait by Apple to try and fish exploits out before 4.0 but devs know better than that.
