jailbroken iphone 3g not working with att

Hello all,
I bought a new iphone 8gb 3g, upgraded to the latest firmware and just jailbroke it using redsn0w.

I am currently on at&t with a razr and when i put my sim into the iphone it says "no service", I don't have a data plan on my razr either.

Does anyone know how I can get this phone working with my current AT&T sim??

well, you could activate your iPhone with the sim or unlock with a *snow unlock.

If your phone is not on an iPhone plan then you'll have to unlock it to have service. If the iPhone is on firmware 3.1.3 then there's no unlock available for it yet.

i don't think i can unlock the phone at this point because of the band issue.

so it does have to be unlocked even if using a at&t sim???

If it is an iPhone plan,
It will activate itself,

if any other att plan,
such as gophone,
or anything else,
you gotta unlock in manually
