unlocking to sell...

hello,
ive never had the need to unlock before, (im on at&t), but im planning on selling my iphone in anticipation of buying the new one. since ive never done an unlock before, i was wondering how i would unlock it so it's ready to sell, and what firmware should i unlock it on?

If you have the latest fw, you cannot unlock yet.

its on 3.1.2 right now...
is that okay? and what should i use?

1)download blackra1n
blackweather
2)connect your iphone and run blackra1n, it'll do its thing
3)your phone should reboot and blackra1n should say it jailbroke successfully
4)open blackra1n on your iphone and install cydia and sn0w
5)after it finishes reboot and you should be good to go your iphone is jailbroken and unlocked.

You did not mention if you have a 3G or 3GS, I assume you have a 3GS :>

If you have not jailbroken yet, you can just run Spiit jailbreak and unlocked with Blacksn0wRC2 ( more stable unlock) from Cydia , add this repo > cydia.pushfix.info

If you have already jailbroken wiith Blackra1n, then just install Blacksn0wRC2 from Cydia . Make sure you don't run spirit jailbreak if you have Blackra1n on it, you will mess up your Iphone.

i just did this. so once i finish all of that ^, it is completely unlocked and ready to be sold as so?
sorry if im lacking intelligence here, but i didnt think it would be that easy!

yeah if u have a 3g its done. did you install cydia and sn0w though? if you did your ready to go.
