    Default iPhone 3G 3.0 to 3.1.2 upgrade/unlock

Will this still work even if they stop signing the 3.1.2? OR will it give me an error and force me to update to 3.1.3? Have a 3G 3.0 original, and would like to upgrade to 3.1.2 to be able to unlock it.
    Nothing beats the iPhone.

    3G's can restore to 3.1.2

Download the ipsw from the Downloads section here and use that to update to 3.1.2. It will up your baseband to 5.11.07 but that's ok, it's unlockable.

Get Blackra1n (Google will help you here )

Run it on the phone when the restore is finished. Run the Blackra1n app after "make it ra1n" finishes.

Install Cydia (if you want, RockApp--I don't recommend it, crashed my phone before) and Blacksn0w (for the unlock).

After that, enter the app again and select delete. Reboot if necessary.

Edit* Noticed I said 3G's, to clarify, I meant 3G phones, not 3GS

just to clarify if some ppl would confirm: there is _no_unlock_ for updating an iphone 3G from 2.2.1 to 3.1.3 ? (I see the jailbreak is alrdy live.

if there is an unlock then would someone show me (snowbreeze/blacksnow/ultrasnow?

edit: NVM I kept on reading and it seems for 3.1.3 no unlock yet, unless I preserve the baseband which I'm not able yet to do...

Alright here are the steps for you to upgrade from 2.2.1 to 3.1.3 >

First restore to stock 3.0 fw and then jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.8, now your bb is 04.26.08 which uses ultrasn0w to unlock.

Now from 3.0 to 3.1.3, create a custom firmware of cfw 3.1.3 from SnowBreeze or Pwnage tools and then restore to the file you created.

Now you are jailbroken at version 3.1.3 and install Ultrasn0w to unlock.

    You are all Done.......Happy Smiling......

Or shift+restore to 3.1.2 stock and use Blackra1n and Blacksn0w to unlock, which is a one hit run. 3G phones don't need to be on 3.1.3 because tethered jailbreaks don't exist on it.

I already listed the process in my previous post. It's quick and easy. No need for baseband preservation when going to 3.1.2. No need for creating custom firmwares or restoring two separate times. Just sayin'. Probably get further with this iPhone stuff if following directions weren't made so difficult.

Thanks, Anniex. I'm familiar with the 3GS info, but not 3G. Thanks again! Will try it tonight.
