iLiberty Help.

I have a 2g iPhone 4gig.... trying to activate it without using iTunes so I can use it for prepaid or as a nice iPod or something.. Well iLiberty would say "error communicating with device" now can anyone tell me why this is happening?? when I try to do a jailbreak.. it brings up 3 options and none of em seem to work. What im I doing wrong?? I googled my problem and everyone seems to skip past answering why it says that..Any help would be apperciated Thank you!
