? about jailbreak/unlock iphone 3g

hello guys,
i have the iphone 3g unlocked and jailbroken.
its version 2.2.1 (5h11) and modem firmware 02.28.00

i want to purchase the sling box application but it requires that i have version 3.0

my question is since my phone is already jailbroken. do i just download version 3.0 and up and restore it with itunes?

is it that simple?.


i unlocked and jailbroken my phone twice. but this stuff always gets me confused =)
for example when i upgraded my phone, it wasnt working because my modem firware was different and it took me alot of time findig out the 02.28.00

any help and maybe a link would be much appreciated.

Easiest way on a 3G phone is:

1. Get 3.1.2 ispw from Downloads section.
2. Shift+Restore to it.
3. Download Blackra1n.
4. When restore is finished, run Blackra1n.
5. When Blackra1n is finished, open the app from the springboard.
6. Select Cydia (RockApp if you'd like) and Blacksn0w (to unlock).
7. When that's finished, exit the app and re-open to select delete.
8. Reboot if required.

Your baseband will be unlockable if you use the 3.1.2 stock ipsw (NOT 3.1.3 IF YOU DO THAT YOU ARE SO SCREWED, so don't )
