Help with blackra1n, 3G 3.1.2

I have the iPhone 3G
3.1.2 Firmware
5.11.07 Baseband

My friend gave me the iPhone to replace my unlocked 2G, I erased (general/reset/erase all content and settings) instead of restoring, as I did not want to go to 3.1.3

I ran "blackra1n" everything went good, when I clicked on the app icon to load cydia and the unlock, It said I had a bad internet signal, I tried several times and figured I would go into town this morning where I have a good signal.

Now the app has disappeared? I re ran the "blackra1n" several times, says "enjoy your jailbroken iPhone, but the app still is not showing ?

Help please, is there a way to install cydia, then DL the unlock? or another way

You will need to restore the phone.. then re-run blackrain. The app doesn't just delete itself.. you must have hit the uninstall button.

I am DL the 3.1.2 package, 1,2_3.1.2_7D11_restore.ipsw

I then press restore while holding the option key? and select the 3.1.2 package

I want to make sure I don't install 3.1.3

Is Blackra1n the best option for unlocking my iPhone

Blackra1n actually is the jailbreak program. Blacksn0w is the unlock payload. I would jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.2 then add "www.blackra1n.com" to your sources in Cydia and install blacksn0w to unlock.
