I used to have a 3gs 3.1.2 version tethered jailbreak then i reset the network settings cos the wifi cant connect then it got stuck in dfu mode and when i ran blackra1n it got stuck on the geohot screen. so i sent a msg to one of the users here "yeow202" and asked for his help and he showed me how to jailbreak and unlock 3.1.3 with 05.11.07 baseband. now i can use my iphone again unlocked and jailbreak. thumbs up to yeow202

You have a different case from others :

Create a custom firmware of 3.1.3

PC > use Snowbreeze 1.5.2

Mac > use Pwnage tools 3.1.5

For PC, Do a Shift + Restore( Itunes ) and browse to the file and restore to the CFW you just created

For Mac Do a Home + Restore (Itunes) and browse to the file and restore to the CFW you just created

Once you have restored. Go to Cydia and Install Ultrasn0w.

You are done....

if you upadated 3.1.3 in itunes you wont be able to unlock as of the moment..

yes i updated in itunes and now it seems i'm doomed.

you wont be able to unlock right now but you can jailbreak just use spirit.

I know that it's possible to jailbreak but to unlock is something I haven't been able to find a clear answer to for iPhone 3GS on the new bootrom.

I have PCs on Windows XP and 7 but I don't own a Mac.

Yes you can unlock the 3gs with the new bootrom on 3.1.3 with 05.11.07 baseband. you have to jailbreak it first using spirit then go to cydia and install Install Blacksn0w RC2 from the Cydia Source > cydia.pushfix.info. that's about it.
