Thinking of returning iPhone. Can anyone help?

Hi everyone,

I am newbie to the iPhone scene and its kinda confusing for me as I dont have the iPhone with me. Hope someone can help me out

Situation : My brother got a new iPhone 3GS last month. He has to travel to many countries due to his work. We thought we will unlock the iPhone so that he can use local SIM in those countries. But we weren't aware that the new iPhone 3GS cannot be unlocked yet.

The phone is still under 1 month return policy. As he cant wait till June for the unlock, thinking of this :

1. Returning the phone and getting iPhone 3G.
Ques 1(a) : Can the latest, newly bought iPhone 3G be unlocked?
Ques 1(b) : Any appreciable difference between the 2 in terms of call quality?

2. Overall, if anyone has anything to say on the idea of returning the iPhone.

i would keep the 3gs...

1.a) No, the 3G isn't unlockable same situation as the 3gs
2.b) in terms of call quality its about the same just everything else is faster (browsing, gameing etc etc etc) + voice control, compass

If he can wait two months I would stick with the 3GS and wait till the unlock comes out
