1st Generation on 3.0.1 - how to unlock

I have a 1st generation iphone with version 3.0.1 and would like to unlock it. It is already jailbroken so if there is an easy way to do it so that I don't have to re-jailbreak it would be great, if not can you please point me in the right direction and instructions. I don't care if I have to upgrade my version as long as I can still unlock and I think the highest I can go that is still unlockable is 3.1.2 - right. Anyway any assistance would be appreciated.

OK you should USE RedSnOw 0.9.2 for iPhone

go to iPhone Dev Team to find it....

You need to have a non AT&T sim card inserted in the iPhone during the jailbreak.

When redsn0w asks for an IPSW - point at the 3.1.2 IPSW

first generation phones are unlocked forever, no worries there... just update to 3.1.3 and use redsn0w

You should just hit the upgrade button to 3.1.3 and run Redsn0w 0.9.4 which will jailbreak and unlock the phone. (3.1.2 ipsw is required to run Redsn0w with 3.1.3)

That's the best way cuz being on 3.0 that limits you from using some apps. It's also the easiest way cuz you don't have to go through the shift+restore process

I'm obviously doing something wrong. I got all the way to opening Redsn0w and selecting the same 3.1.3 ipsw file that I did shift + restore with but Redsn0w gives me a message that it does not recognize this file.

Now I am stuck at the recovery mode and when I connect to iTunes it says to insert valid SIM card. I install a sim card that is working on another iphone but still nothing happens.

I then decided to try blackra1n and again it goes through the process but is stuck at done, wait for reboot but it is not rebooting.

Can someone please help me????

(I just restored it to 3.1.3 in itunes but all I get is a message that tells me to insert an activated SIM card which I do not have. How can I jailbreak it and what program do I use now to jailbreak??) Thanks.

I think you'll need to use 3.1.2 in Redsnow. Go to the guides link at the top of page, then go to "Jailbreak/Unlock 3.1.3 Iphone 2G" and it'll have a link and guide for the appropriate IPSW.

but I am restored to 3.1.3 so how do I go to 3.1.2? Is it possible?

Read that guide. The instructions tell you to update to 3.1.3 using Itunes, then you use Redsnow with the 3.1.2 firmware.

You have to point it at 3.1.2 even if youre at 3.1.3 at redsn0w
