Problem wth 3G

I have a problem with my 3g. All of a sudden it would not start. When I would plug it in to the comp I would get the apple logo but it would do nothing. I am finally able to get it on DFU mode but when I try to restore using different Firmware I get an error message. The message says, "The IPhone "IPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (23)." What do I need to do to get this phone working again. I need to jailbrake and unlock.

Download desired ipsw and shift+restore to it. Make sure the phone is in DFU mode/recovery mode. If that fails, download a custom firmware (already activated) and shift+restore to that. You should already be jailbroken if you choose to do that.

Thank for your response. I have tried this but I get an error 23 message that tells me the iphone could not be restored. Any more ideas?
