Help please...

Okay, so I'm really new to all this. I Am trying to get my UNACTIVATED iphone 3G working. It has 3.1.3 I tried downloading the 3.1.2 firmware , Shift and click restore in Itunes, and selecting the firmware but it wouldn't let me open it.

I have gotten past the emergency call screen just by plugging it up to Itunes, which I already had on my comuter.

So here's what I'm wanting to do, and I may be as far as I can, I don't know. I used my hubby's upgrade to get the phone cause I didn't want to have to get the data plan. So if I just have an Ipod touch that's fine. But would love to be able to jailbreak it and get some of the apps and stuff you can't do normally.

That's what I was trying to use. I think.... but our home internet is down so I can't download anything.

What I read in a guide was to
Hook up to Itunes
click shift+Restore and select the 3.1.2 firmware
then run redsnow, also selecting the 3.1.2

I tried that but it won't let me select the firmware when restoring.

you have to update/restore to 3.1.3 on itunes and then select 3.1.2 in redsnow

"click shift+Restore and select the 3.1.2 firmware" doesn't work since long time, as Apple doesn't support 3.1.2 anymore to restore
