3g on 3.1.2 jalilbroken with redsnow, how do I unlock?

I have jailbroken iphone 3g with redsnow at 3.1.2, with basband 5.11.07. How can I unlock it? I really want to avoid restoring and unlocking with blackra1n due to the chance of having to upgrade. I tried running blackra1n on it, but I don't get the icon.

Click on cydia. Let it load. Go to manage. Then sources. Go to the top left and click edit and then again to add:

blacksn0w.com

and then install the package from that source
