Help activating

Sadly I'm not much of a mac person so I'm somewhat at a loss in trying to understand this.

It is wanting me to register my phone through iTunes and is asking for my billing zip code and social security number. Is there anyway I can somehow avoid this, and just make it a jail broken iPod.

Also I keep reading to download and install software for the jail breaks. Where do I install them? The only reason I ask, is that I don't see that the iPhone isn't attached to the computer. I'm assuming that might change once I activate it.

Just download custom "activated" firmware. That will get you by the iTunes screen (Congrats! Expensive iPod touch). This should also install cydia (Jailbreak).
