I found an iPhone 3G. It had a passcode which I didn't know. I put the phone in DFU mode by Holding Power + Home and releasing Power when the Apple Logo came up. I get that Connect to iTunes message and iTunes recognize it as recovery mode. I downloaded the 3.1.2 FW from modmyi.com. I hit Shift+Restore and I selected 3.1.2. It's always ending up with error 1015. I'm pretty sure the phone was using the latest FW because it was an ATT carrier. What can I do now? I'm trying to unlock this for my brother, he's on T mobile. Can I use 3.1.3 for t mobile at all?
I have the ATT Sim card lying around if i can do anything with that.

aha a stolen iPhone I wish I would once find a iPhone lying around haha
First of all: Apple doesn't sign the 3.1.2 FW anymore... so you wont be able to restore your device to 3.1.2 even if its still on 3.1.2 (only if you would have backed up your shsh id but I guess you didnt, as you found it)
I would update to 3.1.3 and then do a jailbreak with redsnow. then on cydia download fuzzyband. If fuzzyband tells you you can downgrade your baseband (which is very very very rare: as rare as finding an iPhone im just kidding) you can go ahead and unlock your phone with blacksn0w... if fuzzyband tells you u cant downgrade the baseband well your pretty much stuck on a ipod touch, cause the devs arent working on a unlock for the new baseband...
I don't give a damn about Chuck Norris, Spongebob can grill under water!
