Help with Iphone 3G V2.2.1 Jailbreak and Upgrade?

I have a Iphone 3G and want to jailbreak it and upgrade it to whatever is the newest/safest version. I just don't know where to start? It's all confusing... Mac or PC is fine.

Either 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 are able to be jailbroken. View the tutorials on this site, or google it. I personally would stick with 3.1.2.

DO NOT use factory 3.1.3, as this will upgrade your baseband, and you will not be able to unlock right now.
