Default Factory unlocked phones and jailbreaking

(i live in oz (australia) and buying outright is buying a factory unlocked phone, where as phones on a contract plan are locked but are possible to get unlocked through the network provider (or carrier, same thing), so when the network like vodafone or 3 state they can unlock your phone, they actually just pass your iemi number to apple for them to do a factory unlock. ( at the moment my iPhone is locked)

If i jailbreak my phone before i get this factory unlock will that compromise either of the two (jailbreak or f. unlock) when factory unlocked?
does this change the choice in pwnagetool to choose activate or not activate (im a bit confused on that part and how it affects the phone, can some explain)

so basically should i jailbreak before i get the factory unlock or after????? Does it matter?

I beleive it doesn't matter. The unlock that they get for your phone will be beyond the normal firmware people handle. So it is up to you.

will it matter which I choose since my phone will at some stage soon be factory unlocked.

If you wait to get the unlock then then you won't need to activate as iTunes will let it go because it is unlocked. If you do it before the unlock you have to use activating within pwnagetool if not using an official carrier to get past the "activate" screen on boot.

Are you using an official carrier?

I am using an official carrier, vodafone... What I plan to do is use a dual sim card that comes with the q-power battery case and use my vodafone sim for calls and the other sim Ill use on 3 for broadband connection prepay only to give me extra download amount,
so right now without it being unlocked I leave it as the default "activated" with pwnagetool and stay on vodafone until they unlock it for me through apple and I'll be able to the use the 3sim, is that right?,
will I need to re-jailbreak it and turn off "activated" choice when that time comes? Or it doesn't matter?
I think when the time comes I just connect it to iTunes so it then establishes the factory unlock and that it right???

so i just jailbreak--activated choice---use voda, when unlock is approved i go to itunes-- then can use 3 sim...have i got that right?

How long before they do the unlock? If you are on a official carrier then you will get activated because you have an official sim in the phone; so no need to check activated in pwngtool.

Correct, once it is activated it is activated till you restore.

    EDIT
theyre responding in 10 days, i am an impatient customer lol!!!
so just to be clear...if i jailbreak now, i choose "activated" cause im on voda, when they unlock it i go to itunes and establish connection where they say "congratulations ur phone is now unlocked"... do i need to re jailbreak and then de-choose "activated" so the 3 sim works???...or is it i dont even need to re jailbreak and everything is hunky-dory (lol!!--it means good)??

sorry for what seems to be the same questions, i just need to be 100% clear on it.

If your voda account is active then Jailbreak without activation>use official sim>and it will be activated. Once they send the unlock then let it do the small update to the phone and then you are free to use any card you want. But you shouldn't have to activate with the jailbreak tool since you are using an official carrier sim; it will do it itself when you connect in itunes.

    EDIT

Oh...ok... So I de-tick "activat" cause it is already activated with a carrier.... I see...
Know wonder... On my last iPhone that died for other reasons I left "activate" on because I wanted to have my phone unlocked (with blacksnow), i downloaded blacksnow, and here was where my problem began because when I did this, it did bring my sim connection back to life but I had no Internet tethering or Bluetooth... Which I originally did have before the jailbreak....
Awsome so I can now really avoid that problem!!
    Thanks heaps!!!
