Default iPhone 3G- Pwnage 3.1.5- no signal

    Hi,

I just upgraded from an iPhone 2G to a 3G. The 3G was already PWN'd with Pwnage 3.0 prior. After numerous attempts to upgrade using Pwnage 3.1.5, encountering many 1600 errors, I followed a suggestion to avoid using DFU mode during restore, and just restored manually. Although the restore appeared to work, now I'm not getting any cell reception. I tried researching the issue and couldn't find the right answer for my issue. My current version is 3.1.3 (7E18) and modem firmware is 04.26.08. Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!
    Alex

Make sure you activated it in pwnage tool. (If you are not with AT&T (USA)or Rogers, Telus, Vigin Mobile, Bell or Fido in Canada). If you are with a legit carrier, than you shouldn't have to checkmark the "activate" in pwnage tool.

Yes, I activated within Pwnage tool. I travel a lot so I need my phone to be unlocked for all GSM carriers. I discovered this the hard way before. Thanks :-)

Found the solution on another forum. I have to install ultrasn0w. I just switched from an iPhone 2G where Pwnage took care of everything. Live and learn The post from other forum is below:

    -----------------
you need to install ultrasn0w via Cydia.

If you still don't get signal, use pwnagetool and create custom firmware 3.1.2 (not 3.1.3). Put phone in restore mode (not dfu) and restore the custom firmware 3.1.2 to phone. After that, install ultrasn0w.

You have a very good modem firmware. Under NO circumstances, don't ever restore to a stock 3.1.x firmware. You must keep that modem firmware, it is golden
