what to do with my iphone??

Hi all,

I am no expert in unlocking and similar stuff. I have a 1.1.4 original iphone ( probably 1g or 2g). I want to upgrade it to some later version so that I can use appstore feature. My phone has started to do funny things sometime and for about a year or so, it is stuck on one wallpaper and I cant change it (you can imagine how bore i am now). I had been doing rounds in Tutorials and posts and found one tutorial which I think will help me. Link is down here:

What I want to know is would I be able to open the file system if i use above guide. I installed some app ages ago through "Installer" to unlock my iphone files and back up my address book. Using this guide, would it unlock file system or I need smoething else to do that?? And if i need that, what app would that be and would I get it from Cydia??

Wow, where to start? You definitely need to upgrade. Installer? its not even around anymore!

Your contacts will backup in itunes. If you need to access the file system, there are a few programs that will let you do this. Winscp, diskaid, read around this site and you'll find plenty.

Just re-read your post, and do you want to unlock the phone, or have access the file system? If you want to unlock the phone to use with a carrier other than AT&T, yes you can do this, but stay at 3.1.2 firmware and below.
