Restoring Unlocked 3.1.2

How would I go about restoring an unlocked iPhone running 3.1.2 since apple is no longer accepting the 3.1.2 firmware.

I am iffy about it because I don't want to get stuck on 3.1.3, how do I prevent this?

Being on a 3Gs I don't think you can restore it.

im having the same problem kind of
my iphone is working but when i go to the phone app or try to use to make a call
the screen is frozen to the screen showing my call history. ive tried everything to fix it i think
but to restore it, i know if i do that i will have to use the new 3.1.3 and not be able to unlock or jailbreak....any suggestions would be huge help

With the 3GS if you do not have your SHSH on file in Cydia you don't have any options and a restore will bring you to the newest version.

If its a 2G or 3G phone, you just get the firmware and do the Shift restore method and select the firmware file you want to install. Again, not an option on the 3GS, as it needs the apple signature

im looking now at my phone and i opened up cydia
and at the top it say s"this device has SHSH on file for IPhone OS:
3.1 and 3.1.2

Basically when you launch Cydia, it will tell you at the top if you do. The link above will show you the screen shot of what you are looking for.

And if you do, MAKE SURE to follow the rest of the directions about pointing the computer to Sauriks server, before you do the restore, otherwise you'd hit apple, and then be snafu'ed

EDIT: Ok, see that you have it. Make sure to follow all the steps before doing the restore....don't skip anything.

here is one more crazy question and after that i will leave u alone
It seems for some reason i can only unlock/jailbreak my phone (using Blacksra1n) on my friends PC using windows XP
I use a mac G4 POWERBOOK and it never works and ive also tried my neighbors brand new desktop Mac
and another PC laptop using VISTA and never works. do u happen to know why?
will this be a problem restoring my phone now by restoring on my mac and then unlocking on my friends PC (windows XP) ?

sorry its just such a pain that when my phone freezes or i run out of battery for I have to restore my at my house on my computer then go to my friends to unlock NOT FUN

Nope, it won't matter if you restore with one computer and jailbreak/unlock with another. Most important thing is to just follow all the restore steps about setting up the hosts file info.

As far as the blackrain goes, do you have the newest? I think his first release had some issues on vista (not sure about the mac) but to be sure, just grab the newest from the site.

Or don't worry about it and do that step via the XP machine.

when i try to edit my host file it ask me to download and Smultrons. the problem i have is im running tiger 10.4
and i dont see it there. only Leopard and snow leopard. anyone out there know how to help?
