Wecome to MMi, sorry your having a problem, but no worries.
Restore the phone to the desired firmware, you may have to put it in DFU mode (blank black screen) and then re-jailbreak/unlock.
Tell me the firmware your using and I can give you info on the type of jailbreak to use if needed.

Hi ffwendy
Are you using a PC or Mac? Having an unlocked 2G iPhone you can go all the way up to 3.1.2 (possibly even 3.1.3 but I haven't bothered to try that yet so I can't recommend it).
Anyway, PC or Mac, and what version of iTunes?

Yes it will.
Here's a step-by-step guide.....
iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your iPhone 2G on OS 3.1.2 Using RedSn0w (Windows)
Any problems just give us a shout.
PS. Like I say I haven't gone up to 3.1.3 so stick with 3.1.2.Last edited by iGuy; 02-11-2010 at 05:59 PM.

I would suggest using the 3.1.2 firmware, and blcksn0w to jailbreak and bootneuter from Cydia for the unlock. But both methods will work. Do Not update to 3.1.3.

We're not awesome, just helping likeminded people out.

(I only wish you're phone wasn't in DFU mode at this stage but it shouldn't matter).

what do you mean not in DFU mode/ Can I just take it back to the itunes logo and try it other way? I tried the Iclarified guide for windows but the - 3.1.2 (2G): iPhone1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw is downloading in a zip file so when I try to restore it with itunes I don't see it in the pwnage folder, when I extract the files is a bunch of them and I don't know which one to use, why can't I be a savvy as you?

Hey, I'm not PC savvy at all.
Just downloading it myself on a PC though...... give me a minute or two and I'll see what I can suggest..... brb.
No need to thank me btw. I'm English.
Still looking for where Windows put's it though - there should be a little blue Lego brick thing somewhere (you are "Lego savvy" I take it and know what Lego is?
).

lol!!
But no, I can't find it on here either. Damn PC's!!
Anyway, your 2G is fixable. But I must go to sleep I'm afraid (it's 2:40am here - oops!). I promise you I will try and find out where Windows hides it and let you know tomorrow - unless anyone knows beforehand...... ).Once you've got your 2G Lego brick it's a piece of cake - I've done it hundreds of times.
It's a shame you haven't got a Mac though, I'd have had hours of sleep by now.

All you do is rename the firmware from .zip to .ipsw and your good to go.
