Just because it's urgent for you, doesn't mean it's urgent for the rest of us.
If your Modem Firmware is 05.12.01 (check in 'Settings'>'General'>'About'), then welcome to club 05.12.01.
You might as well have a few drinks on your holiday to calm yourself down while you wait for the brainz to figure it out. (or you might consider contributing to an unlock yourself?)Last edited by Eamorr; 02-08-2010 at 05:38 AM.

Do you need an unlock or just a jailbreak?

iphone 3g
if your looking to jailbreak your iphone and your currently running 3.1.3 then you would have to downgrade to 3.1.2 so first of all get the 3.1.2 ipsw file then you need to right click on notepad and run administrator, open c:windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts copy everything in hosts and paste it to the notepad that you've opened as administrator it should look like this
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
at the end of this page you need to write 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com so after this it should look like this
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#

# space.

save in the same folder after this you need to open itunes then you hold the home and power button for 10 seconds then you let go of the power but dont let go of the home button for another 10 sec until you hear a message pop up on itunes you press ok and then you hold shift and press restore then you need to select the 3.1.2 ipsw file wherever you have placed it you will still get the message error 1015 ignore this message exit out of itunes reopen itunes and hopefully you have successfully downgraded to 3.1.2

First of all.. there is no such thing as an "accidental" upgrade. It's a deliberate act that asks for your permission. Given that a cell phone, especially unlocked/modded, is super important I would think the general person would do his due diligence and hold off until doing extensive research.
There there's the whole group of people that "oh my wife or my kid" plugged it in and upgraded. Well this was your own fault too for not properly educating your entire household about an unlocked iPhone. You might go even farther and purchase a blinking LED sign to put on your desk that says "DO NOT UPGRADE MY IPHONE".

ok so should i go kill myself now or what? am i gonna be punished for updating it to 05.12.01? it's a mistake. we r all humans and we make mistakes. why do u guys treat people who are stuck with the new baseband like this? that's so mean seriously! oneday you will be stuck in a problem and in need for help and everybody will just laugh at you and tell u join the club.
i joined this forum hoping that i will find a solution or at least somebody trying to help but instead i found mean people just making fun of others mistakes.
Thanks everybody for your GREAT help and support. i will not throw my iphone or sell it or anything. i will just use a cheap phone till an unlock tool comes out for the new baseband then unlock my iphone. no big deal. BYELast edited by moheysaleh; 02-09-2010 at 06:56 AM.

Hey dude! Don't do that! It's not the end of the world you know. Your family and friends are around you. It's only a stupid lump of plastic and metal.
OK. I admit to being a bit of a wind-up merchant. It happened to me on Saturday too! You'll get over your initial anger eventually and mellow out eventually...
I'm genuinely sorry for being prickly towards you.
I've got mine up on ebay as we speak. There is a flood of AT&T locked iPhones on ebay at the moment which will undoubtedly drive down prices. I don't think there'll be an unlock. Apple want to inflict pain on the hackers.
I'm just gonna buy a factory unlocked 3GS.Last edited by Eamorr; 02-09-2010 at 07:46 AM.

I hit the "new post" link and there are 7 threads on the first page dealing with 3.1.3, baseband issues, people trying to downgrade, etc. This has been the most widely talked about subject since the second the firmware was released. I was a noob at one time and I self educated myself about everything by reading forums. I do not feel sorry for anyone who can't take a few mins to look before they leap... especially with a $500 phone! come on!

we are not mean or nasty as you put it its just simply every time a new version of the iphone software comes out theres a barrol load of topics saying help upgraded by mistake when infact its not a mistake you are given 3 warning which you have to accept in order for your phone to upgrade to the new software so if you cant read warnings then whats the point in us reading your posts? sit back and wait for firmware 4.0 before you may unlock your device when a new unlock tool comes out

thanks for your kind reply. well just to make things clear; i didn't update my os through itunes as you guys think. i was updating to 3.1.3 using the new snowbreeze which was supposed to upgrade my phone to 3.1.3 while preserving the baseband as it was. but unfortunately the snowbreeze didn't work right, something went wrong and i was shocked to find that the baseband was updated too even though i used snowbreeze.
i bought my iphone 3G like 3 months ago and i educated myself about everything has to do with unlocking and jailbreaking, i successfully updated it from 3.0 to 3.1.2 and unlocked it. but i don't know what happened this time, that's fu**in snowbreeze screwed everything up.
I guess i will have to wait as u said till the next major update (probably 4.0) to be able to unlock my iphone.
Thanks DeL1873.
by the way i have a question. I have an Egyptian Vodafone sim card (iPhone is working officially with Vodafone in Egypt). can this help in anyway? or do i also have to unlock the phone to use it with an official network like vodafone?
thanksLast edited by moheysaleh; 02-09-2010 at 08:14 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
