iPhone 3G - 3.1.3 - CAN I UNLOCK / JAILBREAK

Hello,

I've recently upgraded to 3.1.3 by pure accident. I'm on an iPhone 3G not the 3GS first response which gives a positive outcome gets $5 on paypal lol.

If not, how long do you guys think it'll take for an unlock to come out.

Please i'm desperate and will do anything to get this thing up and running on my current provider.

So.

1. ITS VER 3.1.3
2. ITS THE 3G iPhone
3. I'm currently sitting on an emergency unlock screen saying sim not supported.

blackra1n is not the way to go for 3.1.3

if you are desperate to jailbreak it - you could use redsn0w, but that wont unlock it - just jailbreak it

but I would read up on it first - this forum should help, or you can read here @ Devteam blog about redsn0w options: Dev-Team Blog

try snowbreeze make custom firmware and go to itunes put iphone in restore mode and hold shift+restore and select custome firmware and ur unlocked done

I just bought a 3G today and it had 3.1.2 jailbroken. I forgot to check the baseband but I think it was the newest one for 3.1.3. It can't be unlocked yet.

3.1.2 can be easily jailbroken, and unlocked aswell, there are tons of guides on the internet!! 3.1.3 is new so the dev's haven't been able to updated the jailbreaking and unlocking tools yet.

I am on 3.1.2 right now but the baseband is the new 5.12.01 because the previous owner upgraded on accident.

if you upgrade to 3.1.3 on 3g with baseband 5.12.01 u will be doomed it will not unlock as of yet

When will a simple solution for this problem come out? Is RedSn0w planning something? When is the exact release date?

I am in the same bind..... 3.1.3 and 5.12.1 cant unlock OR Jailbreak. I would rather do it all at once. Any ideas?

Jailbreaks do not matter if you can't unlock. There will not be an unlock for this baseband. Nobody is working on it and nobody will. They will wait for the next iPhone

I'm in exactly the same situation. Can Jailbreak easily using redsn0w but cannot jailbreak because of the baseband.

Dev Team will not release any unlock until the next iPhone. There are only so many vulnerabilities in the baseband. They cant burn them with every stupid firmware Apple releases.

I tried to jailbreak and unlock but keep getting the errors 1600 or 1604, I got 3.1.3 installed by accident its the first gen Iphone, any sort of help would be highly appreciated

Can you let me know if you get any answers.... as stated earlier, I am in the same bind.

On a side note, what about just doing a SHIFT + RESTORE to a different firmware? Does that still retain the same BB?

shift+restore will upgrade the baseband unless you used pwnagetool to create a custom firmware

so pwnagetool is THE answer? Creating a custom firmware will allow me to use a different unlockable and jailbreakeable baseband?

pwnagetool allows you to upgrade and jailbreak to a new firmware without updating the baseband. However if you did update to 3.1.3 without using pwnagtool then you updated your baseband and it cant be downgraded. Another problem is that blacksn0w (the unlock) is not working on 3.1.3. So people with baseband 05.11.07 will have to wait til someone can figure out how to get blacksn0w to work on 3.1.3.

ive downloaded 3.1.2 on my desktop am trying trying to use snow breeze but it doesnt recognise it as it comes up as winrared, where am i going wrong here? any help appreciated.
And of course there is a small prize of £5 via paypal for any positive response......Lol
