Restore 3.12 without downloading 3.13
Dear modmyi,
I have a 3GS running 3.12 (jailbreaked with blackra1n) and have my shsh file on sauriks server.
I have download so mutch stuff on cydia so i want do a restore to get a clean phone
but still have the 3.12 jailbreak.
So how do i restore my 3gs without dowloading the new 3.13?
I checked Downgrade iPhone 3GS OS 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 With Cydia SHSH | jailbreak and put sauriks server in the hostfile.
If i put my phone in revocery mode and click "restore" in itunes, it says it want to restore AND download 3.13.
If i put it in DOA, i cant choise the 3.12 file, because i dont have it
could i downloaded it from saurik somehow?
Any help would be really helpful.
Best, jesper

ok i tryed a lot of different firmwire, and finaly i found one that worked.
it was called - iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_RestoreNOHACK.ipsw
the only problem was that included cydia after restore, so i was not a "clean" firmware.
i tryed modmy firmware and it dident work.
Have anyone find a firmware thas is clean and working?

thanx a lot DayneR,it worked, no need to Restore iPhone 3GS to 3.1.2 Using SHSHs on File with Cydia, just download the firmware added by DayneR, turn off your 3gs, unplugged from usb, hold home button and connect your phone while holding home button, shift restore and select the file you just downloaded

You have to hold the Shift key down while pressing Restore.

Couple questions
The seemingly is great news!
I was under the impression that you could no longer downgrade without an 3.1.2 SHSH on file. Couple questions...
I have 3.1.2 installed right now but my "other" folder in iTunes has expanded to 1.3GB somehow. I heard I need to restore to recover that space. Can I safely restore using the firmware posted above? If so, how is that possible? Is the firmware itself modded?
Thx

custom question
Could, or is this firmware jailbroken? Or would I still run Blackra1n? And can it be unlocked with Blacksn0w?

Clean JB
Find the firmware you want from here:
iPod and iPhone Firmware Download
It's all straight from Apple, Inc.'s servers.
The guy just provides links to it all.
After you've downloaded your preferred firmware, connect your iPhone (powered on) and open iTunes (Preferably latest version).
Wait until iTunes recognizes your iPhone.
Open the iPhone's "Summary" tab.
Hold Shift, and click the "Restore" button.
A file selection window will pop up, and allow you to select the .ipsw you just downloaded (I'm guessing you chose 3.1.2).
Choose the .ipsw, and iTunes should successfully restore to 3.1.2 with no issues.
Get Blackra1n from GeoHot's site:
blackweather
Once iPhone is cleanly restored, you can use the BlackRa1n program to jailbreak it (and unlock it later on, using the installed app).
I can pretty much guarantee you this'll work, since the whole shabang uses the latest, greatest legit software.
I've never encountered any issues, anyway.
Hope this works for yeh.
I also recommend using Rock, instead of Cydia.
Cydia seems to be becoming more and more unstable...
You can even run BlackRa1n on an already-jailbroken iPhone, if all you want is to obtain Rock.

re
trevor,
You say it "should" restore, but if it is factory firmware and your shsh is not on file with cydia, it will reject in itunes. Thats why im asking if this file has been modded in any way so it will not go thru itunes server verification check.
My 3gs gets stuck in the reboot loop with all the custom firmwares i have tried, so I want to try with a "clean" 3.1.2, i.e., no jailbreak or cydia installed, so I can run blacka1n and blacksn0w without the issues i'm having now. Dont know if it will work or not, but gotta try. Tired of having an overpriced ipod touch.
edit
Downloaded both. Factory failded itunes verification (naturally) Custom restore is already jailbroken, cydia already loaded. Installs fine, but when I run Blacksn0w, stuck again in reboot loop.Last edited by mavrik101; 03-03-2010 at 12:12 AM. Reason: edit

My 3Gs is presently on 3.1.2 and is firmware 05.11.07 and is jailbroken with blackra1n. I would like to run blackra1n again so that I can install blacksn0w and have run this application twice but I can't get the blackra1n icon on my iphone.
Any suggestions or assistance would really be appreciated.
Thanks.
