    Default Waiting for activation

    Hi

First post here so please bear with me.
I have been given an iPhone model MB496B running firmware 3.1.2 which has been unlocked with sn0w. However, when the phone is switched on it gives the "waiting for activation" message. The SIM providers name appears on top of the screen but there is no service.
I have read through a lot of this forum and others but am finding it hard to find a definitive answer. Does the firmware need to be downgraded? If so how? Does iTunes need to be downgraded from V9? I would appreciate if anybody could point me in the right direction on what to do next.
    Thanks
    Vince

    Default Sim

    Hi

The SIM I am using is a PAYG UK Vodafone one.

Just as a little more info I can access and surf the web via the Vodafone network just cannot make calls.

I thought the same so went here to check AMTA - Check the Status of your Handset. That tells me "Result Your IMEI Number is currently unblocked. "
