t-mobile iphone 3g 3.1.2 no service after blacksn0w...who is the iphone genius???

ok i have about 3 different iphone 3g in my family and two of them were unlocked easily using blacksn0w however one of the iphones we bought from Europe...when I tried unlocking that phone..its giving me no service after blacksn0w...this phone was working fine when I had unlocked it using yellowsn0w about a year ago when it was on 2.1 OS...even with yellowsn0w it would give me no service issues but then I would go into the mobile terminal and type yellowsn0w -r and then it would pick up the signal..so the hardware of the phone is perfectly fine because it was unlocked before using yellowsn0w but this time I attempted to unlock it through blacksn0w..it would give me no service...as soon as I turn off and then turn on my phone...the phone detects I have a voicemail but then right away it loses the signal and says that your cellular data has been lost....here is what I have done so far

1) fresh restore to 3.1.2 from 2.1 and then blackra1n and then blacksn0w but no service
2) resetted network setting but still no service
3)turned off and on 3G and the phone would say searching and still no service
4) poped the sim out and then back in and then put it on airplane mode off and on but still no service
5) did a fresh restore through itunes again and created a customer firmware through pwnage and then installed blacksn0w through CYDIA but still NO SERVICE...

it would do the same thing..it would pick up my voicemail but then i would get this error message that your cellular data has been lost...PLEASE REMEMBER THIS PHONE WAS working fine with t-mobile before I attempted to upgrade it and used blacksn0w...now this is very strange how come I was able to unlock the other two iphone 3g right away through blacksn0w and just not this one....I have done a lotta research and even googled for a solution but this hasn't been solved yet cuz I know a lot of people are having the same exact problem and they were unable to figure out whats wrong with the iphone...I have done every possible thing in this world to unlock this certain 3g phone through blacksn0w but its not picking up the signal..it would just say SEARCHING for 10 seconds and then it says NO SERVICE...please help me.....pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

You could try downloading Fuzzyband from Cydia and see if your bootloader it 5.08 and if it is, downgrade the BB to 4.26.xx and use Ultrasn0w instead.

Speaking of which, did you directly upgrade to 3.1.2 with iTunes or did you use a custom firmware? What is your baseband right now?

fuzzyband is a not go cuz my bootloader is 5.09...well first I directly upgraded through itunes and then made it rain...so when this method didnt worked out..I created a custom firmware through pwnage and then downloaded blacksn0w through cydia...there is gotta be some way around to this??? the funny thing is when I unlocked this iphone with yellowsn0w last year..even then I would get no service everytime I would restart my phone but then i would have to go to mobile terminal and type yellowsn0w -r which would reset the baseband and pick up the signal but this time I can't use this command because yellowsn0w is not installed...

Please confirm that your 3G toggle is off. You said above you turned it "off then on"... which would mean it's left on and the phone will never pick up service if that's the case.

Yes 3g toggle is off....I turned it off...for an hour it was still saying searching and then no service...I restarted the phone and everything and even resetted network settings but nothing happened...When I go on settings and carrier...it says its on automatic and it also detects t-mobile & at&t but when I chose t-mobile after 2 seconds it gives me a message your cellular has been lost and please check your network settings...and then get no service again..

I got a 3G from an Apple store a few days ago. DFU restored to 3.0 then jailbroke sucessful with reds0w then attempted to unlock with ultrsn0w to use T-Mobile SIM but got "No Service" after all. I suspect my phone had upgraded ver 3.1.2 when I got it. As the iPhone currently shows the modem firmware/baseband is 5.11.07.

And that could be a bad news based on what I read today (1/23/2010) from 'Iphone_Screen>Cydia>Ugrading to 3.12? Read This' which says "If you upgrade to 3.1.2 without using Pwnage Tool to do so you will not be able to unlock your phone at this time, and may be forever after". It sounds scary but if you scroll further down and will see an option to use blackra1n to jailbreak and unlock 3.1.2 and some brief instructions.

Phew! I got it works finally. I very much followed the instruction from this link and the main steps are as follows:

- Download 3.1.2 firmware and blackra1n.exe
- DFU restore the iPhone 3G to 3.1.2 (I used Itunes 9.0)
- Once restore is done, turn off iTunes, leave iPhone on, run blackra1n.exe. It is a one click process. No holding buttons blahblah at all.
- Once done, tap blackra1n app and install snow and cydia. Phone unlocked!
- My phone and WiFi works ok, but youtube does not. Will tackle it later.

Note: I had error 14 during restore to 3.1.2. It turned out the firmware download had some problem. So I had to download another one. And it was fine.

Perhaps you should try getting blacksn0w from a different repo through Cydia instead of through the regular blacksn0w.com and the blackra1n app. When you upgraded to 3.1.2 did you make sure that you set the phone up as new? You should also check to see if you have ultrasn0w or yellowsn0w installed and remove them? I mean I doubt it but it never hurts to check...

Yes I have tried all the methods...and I also checked if yellowsn0w and ultrasn0w was installed but they werent and like I said I had to unlock 3 3g iphones and was able to get the first two unlock with no issues but this one is driving me crazy...hopefully redsn0w 0.9 will fix this issue...

I just bought an iPhone 3GS and have T-Mobile, I have done everything I know how to do to unlock this pretty little thing but I still can't get service, and of course typical bad luck I am currently running the new version 3.1.2 (7D11) with the 05.11.07 firmware. Any suggestions??

You never mentioned blacksn0w, is that one you tried? I mean I do not see why Blacksn0w wouldn't work but have you tried installing Blacksn0w thru a different repo in Cydia rather than thru the Blackra1n app?

I tried blacksn0w and got service for about a minute and now I'm back to where I started ? It seems like getting this to work properly is going to be a long wait...thanks for the help! But please don't hesitate for any other suggestions to help me!

I've spent the last 4 days trying every possible way to correct this bug. I still get No Service or no bars.

I have restored / jailbroken / unlocked more than 20 times, every way possible.

Has anyone finally figured out how to fix this?
