need help unlocking/jailbreaking Rogers Wireless Canada 3G
help! I have an unactivated 3G from Rogers Wireless in Canada. I want to unlock it or jailbreak it so I an use it with AT8T. I have been reading all over and nothing that I have tried seemed to work. I don't know what is wrong but I still can't use the phone, the only screen I have is the connect to iTunes screen. When I open iTunes, it only recognizes the unsupported SIM card and the phone is not named. I do not know how to restore, or even if I should restore, and my son has tried for 2 days to unlock or jailbreak it and nothing seems to work! Does anybody know what to do to get it unlocked or jailbroken so I can use the darn thing? I am at my wits end!!!
no, I don't know what firmware it is nor hpw to find out since the screen won't go beyond the connect to itunes screen. I need instructions on how to break with blackrain and where to find the download
ok, I got blackrain to work, thanks! now I'm restoring through itunes, when that is done, what next? I don't have my SIM card in yet, do I install it after the restore?

link from iclarified for redsn0w guide if blackra1n doesn't work (meaning you're not on 3.1 or 3.1.2)
with redsn0w you'll need to download the correct firmware which can be found here on modmyi. You'll need only 3.0 even if you're on 3.0.1, 3.0 is the only one you need. If neither one works that means your firmware is 2.x meaning you'll need to use quickpwn and download 2.x firmware but I won't expound on how to do that until you've tried the above already.
Sorry, didn't see your new post that you got blackra1n to work. After you've restored it will take you back to the iTunes screen where you will need to run blackra1n again. Did you install the unlock through blackra1n? It's called
blacksn0w. If not you can do so in Cydia if you've deleted the blackra1n app if not install it through blackra1n. After you've installed blacksn0w just pop in your SIM and it will work.

HOW LONG DOES IT STAY IN RUNNING MODDE
I click on make it rain then it Finds device, (at this time i am not on itunes is that right?) It starts running and stays there how long 1 min 5 mins ???? mins can anyone tell me please
ok so it takes about 8-10mins in running mode how long does it stay in done,wait for reboot
Do I have to do a reboot or does it do it by itself

first, you have to go to iTunes, back up your phone then download the new software, if you don't already have it. once you have done that, disconnect the USB cable and follow the directions on the website, which also tell you to do this.

She is actually talking about already going through the Blackra1n process.
The entire process of using Blackra1n shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. 10 minutes tops, if it's at waiting to reboot it will (at least it's supposed to) reboot by itself. You should not reboot yourself. If it hangs there, something didn't go right. You need to make sure you restored to the right firmware and make sure it is a clean copy not a custom. Then when at the iTunes and USB screen you can plug your phone in and run Blackra1n. Make sure you had set your phone up as new at the restore process. You shouldn't have problems with the jailbreak if you do those things.
If you do, make sure your phone is actually on the right firmware and the right model so that it is eligible for jailbreak.
All 3G and 2G phones are jailbreakable in 3.1.3 and 3.1.2 and unlockable on 5.11.07 baseband. 5.12.01 bb is not unlockable.
3GS phones varies. If you have a 3GS, you should search the forums on which ones can and cannot be jailbroken on 3.1.3 and which can or cannot restore to 3.1.2 etc. I've answered a lot of posts regarding this topic so I know your answers are out there.
I am on rogers also Have similar prop execpt not on version 3.1.3 I Got a brand new 3.1.2/5.11.07 3GS the iPhone Dev Team blog states that Pwnage Tool is safe for 3.1.2/5.11.07 - so I went that route to get 3.1.2 back to stock.
Long story short - error 1600, stuck in DFU mode. Not amount of holding power, or power+home gets me out of if. My only option is a restore to 3.1.3, so I have a rather expensive paperweight until a 3.1.3 fix is put out but i have not done it yet any help would be much appreciated thanks in advance
