Need help unlocking my iPhone 3g
I am currently a T mobile subscriber and just jail broke my iphone. I then did what I thought was unlocking it. I am using version 4.1 of the iPhone software. The phone just is not recognizing the sim card and keeps re-setting. Any tips?
I restored my iPhone, then I used:
Red Snow Version 0.9.6b1
iPhone1,2_4.1_8b117_restore.ipsw
I am also new at this, so any help would be great.

There is no unlock for 4.1 and probably never will. You're going to have to wait for 4.2 and hope one is found.

Just ignore what was said by the previous poster. If you updated to 4.1 you have a 5.14.x baseband which cannot be unlocked today but there is an unlock which has been tested by the dev team but not yet released. They have said they will release it as soon as version 4.2 of the firmware is released.
We are expecting this to happen on Tuesday so in a few days you will have an unlock for your phone.

it's jailbroken, not unlocked. no unlock as of now for 4.1
Sync your files online and across computers with @Dropbox. 2GB account is free!
Add ultrasn0w to Pwnagetool

Be careful talking about numbers guys. Firmware versions and baseband versions are different!
If unlocking is needed, the baseband is most important and most be preserved (with a custom firmware)
If an AT&T customer (or a factory unlocked phone) the baseband version is not important.
New users can easily intermix and not understand how the different numbers relate when upgrading/jailbreaking.Last edited by Mes; 11-19-2010 at 10:15 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
