    Exclamation more information needed

    Hello Bobbydigg,

if you want help, you need to put more meat on the bones.

With the information at hand, there is nobody able to help you.

Describe what you have done and what the iPhone did and now does.

Oh, and Firmware Bootloader Basband etc helps big time.

    Cheers

    Dirk

Just replaced my 3G with a brand new 32gb 3GS. Went online looked around for how to jailbreak a 3.12 phone. Went to the black ra1n website downloaded the windows version of black ra1n. After installing all the programs in blackra1n I installed a few themes and then my phone died. THen when recharging it, the phone went into recovery mode. This is like the 4th time in 24 hours and it's pretty annoying. If you could describe to me what a firmware bootlader basband is I will describe that to u as well

The newest generation iPhones have an updated bootrom which requires a tethered jailbreak. This means every time the phone powers off you have to plug it back into the computer and run blackra1n AGAIN to boot the phone. There is absolutely no way around this at the moment.

Edit: I should put this paragraph in my signature as I seem to write it a couple times a day! UGH!

Um... yes... you basically just re-wrote the second sentence of my explanation. I don't know how much clearer I can be on that point.

I bought an Iphone 3g 16g from a friend. Never used. My brother was able to unlock it for me using Ultran0w/Cydia. It had the 3.0 (older firmware) on the phone and it worked fine. I was going to put some music on it one day with itunes and I saw in Itunes that I could upgrade the firmware to 3.1.2, so I did. Then of course the phone locked again. My brother was able to unlock it but none of the apps work (core apps work) now. He tried to factory reset the phone thu i tunes and it's giving him an error. He tried to use blackrain but it didn't work. Any suggestions? This was supposed to be an xmas gift for my husband and I am devistated that I ****** it up. Any advice or websites you can provide to me would be great.
Thank you for reading this and helping out a stranger. Santa will be good to you!

Put the phone into DFU mode then hit restore. This should fix the error message.

I just found out that the error was a "1015 error". Does this make sense to you?

BobbyDig - I can't restore the iphone through itunes it gives me this 1015 error message.

I'm going to try to put the phone into DFU mode tonight. I'll let you know what happens.

I succesfuly JBed and unlocked my 3GS; installed some stuff from cydia (some of them required reboot which I did succesfully) but when i start theming (iNav montimedia theme to be precise; bunch of springjumps icons, etc.) when i reboot the phone geohot appears stays there for a while and then reboots again into recovery (i restored the phone twice and both times stuck again when theming)... Wonder what could be the problem? Winterboard maybe or something? PLZ reply =)
