Forgot what Redsnow 0.7 0.8 for which fw??

My 8gb 2g stops at bootneuter 2.1 so I am wondering why redsnow 0.7 keeps crashing and why 0.8 locks the phone on bootneuter 2.1 not even flashing just says "determining settings." I am not even sure why the phone is stuck on the apple at power up but redsnow seems to be working up until the bootneuter 2.1 screen then never automates itself. Can anyone tell me what fw I need to use for redsnow 0.7 and 0.8?
