3g No Service 3.1.2 BlackRa1n + BlackSn0w

Ok i have put hours upon hours into this. I have done everything from downgrade to 3.0 and tried to use ultrasn0w. Still nothing. Upgrading back to 3.1.2 and installed Sn0W. Service will work for about 2 min and drop.. Might come back for a sec or two but goes right back out. Reset all Setting. Reinstalled 3.1.2 about 10 times along with blackrain and blacksnow. Still no luck.. Reset Network Setting. Reset All Settings.. Still same problem. I have read over 200 post about this same problem with no fix. Anyone else have a fix for this ?

I also have a iphone 2G with 3.1.2 unlocked and jailbroken with blackrain and it worked PERFECT.. So i have to keep switching out SIM card to be able to use phone service... WIFI work perfect on both phones. 2g and 3g

Im in the sam boat mate.

3G with 3.1.2 and 05 bootloader was originally unlocked with blacksn0w when 1st released and had worked fine for 2 weeks, no problems whatsoever. Switched my phone on, on 13th nov and had no service. Since then i have reinstalled from scratch and i can get the carrier name back up but with no siginal bars.
I have even checked my IMEI to see if its been blacklisted and its not.

Vodafone uk sim - carrier logo but no bars
3 UK sim - carrier logo but no bars
02 UK sim - carrier logo but no bars

Virgin UK sim - i do get bars and logo, but when i try rining it i get a recorded msg saying that this number is not currently available, and any call i try to make drop out.

I think apple have been able to brake blacksn0w's back silently when i have plugged into itunes, or they have some agreement with these other networks not to allow iphones to use it.

I have the same problem. No service anymore, since my battery went dead and I had to DFU everything over again. I've reinstall everything and all works until I install blacksn0w. After that, I can't reboot properly either, which ever way I try, it get's stuck on the pineapple. One kind of improvement I noticed is after reinstalling or unistalling blacksn0w, I get the wifi back ( I always lose it the first time I install it after getting my custom ipsw back). I use a 3G with 3.1.2 and the 05.11.07

Is geohotz aware that this is an issue?

Found the solution to this. I restore a standard 3.1.2 instead of my custom made ipsw (had created a few with various version of pwnage), then installed blackra1n on my macbook. Did sync with my back up in itune, instead, I 'made it rain'. Then installed rock, then snow. I inserted my SIM and voilą. now, let's see if the back up changes anything.

Hmmm i'll give that a go. i'll get myself an orange sim.

One other thing iv noticed is that aswell as Virgin, T-mobile is giving me signal bars but also the call drops out when i try to ring. If i ring it, it will say number unavailable?????

Here is what ended up happening for me. I didnt read up and downgraded to 3.0 after i already had 3.1.2 and blackrain and blacksnow. Well needless to say i spent 4 days trying to restore back to 3.1.2. Several people told me I Bricked my phone and it was junked. Well i ended up restoring back to 3.0 (and locked it cause APPLE refuses to touch a jailbroken phone). The ended up doing a DEEP restore for me. It got it back to 3.1.2 and i used blackrain and it jailbroke just fine. But the unlock stil had problems and i didnt have a blackrain icon on desktop. I ended up downloading the 3.1.2 Custom Firmware from dev team that jailbreaks phone during restore. Then went to cydia which came with the 3.1.2 dev team custom firmware. installed blacksnow this way. I finally got service after 3 days. I ended up just reset on network settings about 10 times. Airplane mode to keep trying to find signal. But needless to say for some reason the 3.1.2 custom firmware seemed to hold the signal alot BETTER. I keep it for more than a min now. Usaly about 3 hrs and then it will drop. I reset SIM card and it works for a few more hours. So i dont know what the problem is. But Geohot seems to know that its a issue and claims that its not blacksnow that its apples problem and for 10 grand he will fix it. Instead of doing a fix and letting us who are willing pay about 30 or so each to make his 10 damn grand he will never get. anyways i hope this helps.. im still looking for a better way to get this fixed.

I have the same perpetual 'pineapple/apple' issue and I followed more or less the same steps as you.

Did your mac book rain solution get you fixed up in the end? I have been doing most of my unlocking using xp, but generally use a mac book for everything else iphone related....

I think i have found the problem to the missing signal bars. In a previous post i said that i checked the IMEI number. It was reported as being ok not blocked. However i have just tried using checkmend the largest goods checking service for the UK. It comes back as being BLOCKED!!!!!!

I have contacted o2 to ask them to confirm this and to track down the seller who must have reported this in order to get a new 3GS. I have also email'd the guy i got it from of ebay to see what he has got to say about this!!

Track IMEI And still has signal loss. It has been alot better in the last few days. Take SIM out and Reinsert seems to fix it. Also Reset network settings and Airplane mode for 10-15 sec. Still drops but not as often.

Ultrans0w is the prob.-does not work w. 3.1.2
Restore to "vanillia"
Make certain iTunes is NOT running
Apply BackRa1n + BlackSn0w (may have to do it twice)
Remember it is a thedered JB (you need to re run every time you shut doewn you Ph)

Ok I messed up on my post. I have blacksnow not ultrasnow. I had everything somewhat working for the last three days. Now today I can't get service for even 1 min. I haven't had to unlock and jailbreak after everyboot. It worked fine and rebooted several times. I got service for 20 sec after putting phone in safe mode. One thing in wondering about Is the carrier update. 3.1.2 was suppose to update to 5.5 correct? Mine still says 5.0. Could this be the problem? iTunes never asked or updated my carrier file. And from my understanding that's what the 3.1.2 update was for. For the unstable signal from 3.0.1.

Currently writting this email from 2g phone that works perfect with 3.1.2 blackrain and snow. It's just my 3g that's not keeping service. I have 3 g disabled. Reset network settings. And it's just stuck on stupid. It won't find t-mobile for the 1 min like it use to. It just searches. I had 4 days perfect service. It would drop buy reseat SIM card seemed to correct that issue. I just don't see why my old 2g works perfect but this 3g won't hold signal.

Anyone who has fixed this issue plz respond.

Hello - not to add another "me too", but I have spent many days trying to figure this out.

3.0 with older baseband (I think 4.xxx), it gets a TMobile signal *sometimes*, even says there's a voicemail message * sometimes*, then goes to no service. ATT SIM chips work great - no prob... Reset to original, took to Apple, they say it works fine. Jailbreak, Ultrasn0w, and back to the same spot.

For the last 1.5 days, I've been playing with 3.1.2. Loaded, blackra1ned, blacksn0wed - nothing. Fuzzyband says it can't do anything due to my version. Uninstalled blacksn0w, reboot, reinstall - same thing... Very frustrating...

Edit: I have tried 2 new sims from TMobile - they do nothing...

I forgot to mention I'm on a 3G 16MB phone...

The crazy thing is it worked great for a year, then suddenly stopped - it was working with ultrasn0w, then stopped working on ultrasn0w (modem 4.xx) - now i'm at modem 5.xx, and 3.1.2 blacksn0w, and it still doesn't work (????)

I'm in the same boat here too. I've tried everything from Blackra1n/BlackSn0w on 5.11.07 baseband to downgrading to 4.26 and using Pwnagetool and Ultrasn0w. Noone has a fix for this?

Okay i have had the same exact problem, I have to logic boards i am using in a 3g. The 8gb with 3.1.2 and blacksnow has no trouble with tmobile service, but when i switch it out with my 16gb that is on 3.1.2 and blacksnow ill get service for a second the it disappears. Is any one having problems with there 16gb, or 8gb. I believe it way be something in the 16gb logic boards. Forgot to mention, have two 8gb logic boards that work fine in it, its just the 16gb that i know works fine(tested) wit att&t sim card

I'm using a 16 gb iphone also. But my friend has the same phone and it works perfectly fine. Like i said before ive tried Geohot's methos and Dev-team. Both have worked for a couple of minutes and then they show no service.

I am having a similar problem. I have an iPhone 3GS 16GB, FW 3.1.2 with 5.11.07. Have been trying for most of the day to unlock the phone. Managed to jailbreak with no problems whatsoever using blackra1n. When I put my T-mobile (UK) sim in the phone, the T-mobile logo comes up fine at the top and I even have three to five bars of reception but whenever I try and make a call, the call drops instantly and I cannot send any SMS.

I have checked my IMEI status and the phone is not blocked, so that can't be the issue. Also tried checking the message and call centre numbers but they are fine. Does anone have any advice?
