    Also stuck with this

    iPhone 3G
    3.1, 3.1.2, even 3.1.3
    5.11.07, 4.26.08 with Fuzzyband
    5.08 bootloader
    Blackra1n/sn0w, Spirit, ultrasn0w, redsn0w...

It's definitely a software issue, had full signal and all was working great yesterday until some point during the night and I've not been able to get any reception since. That's the longest in a week, other than that it's been an hour here or there but very rarely!

I am in the same boat here.

I've just bought an iphone 3g 8gb on ebay.

It came with blackra1n & cydia installed.

After I plugged in my sim card (T-mobile), my phone doesn't recognize the card. So I did some research and installed ultrasn0w, but that didn't work, then I uninstalled ultrasn0w and installed blacksn0w. However, this doesn't fix the problem.

    I am on:

    Firmware 3.1.2
    Modem Firmware 05.11.07

    Can anyone help us?

    Thanks

    P.

hey maybe its a hardware failure if your iphone gets 1 or 2 lines then 3 then 1 and so on... it's a hardware problem i had the same problem with an iphone...and when i opened one of the tiny(very tine) resistors were missing so i had to solder connect it. [email protected]

    1. turn of iphone
    2. Pop out sim
    3. put the sim in another phone
    4. make a succesfull call to someone
    5. put the sim back in iphone
    6. turn back on and i had FULL SIGNAL

    P.S
I know this seems a long shot but when all else fails theres no harm
This is the only way I can get any signal at all - not really ideal since it requires another phone so I may as well leave my sim in that and use my iPod touch for music/wifi

Let's hope someone can come up with a fix, be it now or on 4.0!

If I buy a 3Gs with 3.1.3 Firmware can I install the old 3.0.1 firmware on that phone and than unlock/jailbreak?

I have a 3G on 3.0.1 and 04.26.08 model firmware that works perfectly with Tmobile... I don't know enough about this stuff so figured I'd ask though.

I've spent the last 4 days trying every possible way to correct this bug. I still get No Service or no bars.

I have restored / jailbroken / unlocked more than 20 times, every way possible.

Has anyone finally figured out how to fix this?

    Please help me out!!

    iPhone 3G / 3.1.2 / 05.07.11 BB

I just decided to go for it and everything works, including internet through $5.99 tzones.

I used redsnow to jailbreak then blackrain (through cydia via wi-fi) to unlock....

jailbreak: iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 3G on OS 3.1.2, 3.1.3 Using RedSn0w (Windows)

unlock: iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock the iPhone 3G, 3GS Using BlackSn0w

Worked like a charm... it's been fine for a couple hours now so no long (or short haha) testing yet, but for now it works fine.

Oh and I first restored the phone to 3.1.2 (from 3.0.1) as it says in the jailbreak instructions above.

Hello Again, I updated my iphone 3G with ios 4.0 and I still have the SAME ISSUE. I'm afraid our motherboards got damaged somehow.

AlterEgo. Did you happen to use the new version of ultrasn0w? Maybe that will help. I think there is something wrong internally though for some of the people on this thread, for others I think it's just an inability to properly unlock the device. If it doesn't get service with a known good ATT SIM then it really has to be a physical problem I think.

I have re run the JB with iTunes disabled and the problem was solved. I been pleased w. blackra1n in iOS 3.1 but switched tactics for iOS4 (see the blog by dev team) runs great, no probs. (3Gs)

@ozarka well why is it the ultrasn0w works fine for almost everyone else that runs it? And don't forget that there are about 50 different people on here all claiming that their phone does the same thing, but each has different symptoms, so there is definitely no just one answer so "not our motherboards" may be true for your phone, but not for everyone because others have different symptoms.

    HELP ! HELP ! HELP !

Guys, please help me trying something out.

Just to perhaps motivate you to help me trying this out, my iPhone has been working for two days, it has NOT DROPPED SERVICE YET !

I opened my iPhone (once more) and I noticed that the pin that is supposed to touch the bezel was nowhere near from it. I remembered someone saying (I believe in this same forum and thread) that welding the antenna pin to the bezel resolved his signal problem. I remember making sure that the pin was actually touching the bezel before and that did not help, however, this time (after replacing the scratched black original back cover housing for a silver one)the pin was very very far from the bezel. I do not have the tools and skills necessary to weld that tiny pin to the bezel so I took a cooper cable and tied it to the pin and then to a metal clip in the bezel (I'll try to post a picture soon).
I was surprise to notice that the signal was very strong and now I'm even more surprised and very hopeful because the signal has not dropped... yet.

If someone can (figure out and) try what I did and let us know if that helps, I would really appreciate it. Please let me know if you have questions, I'm really excited about this.

I'm sure that, as TheHumble1 already mentioned, there must be iPhones with some other issues that won't be fixed by this, but if it helps some of us, that would be great !

For more info on my iPhone 3G (worked only with at&t sim card, dropped signal whith tmobile, firmware, bootloader, baseband, methods of jailbreaking, etc) please read my previous posts.

    Mahalo !
