HELP: Newb With unactivated rogers Iphone 3G

My friend gave me his old Iphone 3g for my birthday as he bought the new one but i do not know how to activate/unlock the phone for Fido use. I do not know the Firmware nor does he... and i cant get to the home screen as it need to be activated (only emergency on).

Can someone direct me or tell me what to do to unlock this phone please?

Turn the phone off

Hold the home button while plugging in the cable

Hit restore

It will download and install 3.1.2

You will be back at the activation screen

download and run blackra1n

It will hacktivate the phone, and now you should be at the springboard

Launch blackra1n on the phone, then install "unlock"

Insert your fido sim to check if everything worked out..

HOLY CRAP it works amazingly... but how do i get Youtube to work now? it keeps saying it doesnt connect

does safari work when youtube doesn't?

I've heard reset network settings (found in settings-general-reset) fixes alot of issues with blacksn0w... also try restarting the phone...

I say this only because my friend's blacksn0w'd 3g had a problem with wifi, after a network reset, and TWO restarts it finally started working... So if something doesn't work, keep trying bro. You saw how easy it is to restore and rejailbreak and unlock, so if you mess something up, just do exactly what I told you before, and you can start over...

After install blackra1n, loses youtube.

Seems more people are having similar issues as you are, but they've fixed it with the "push fix" take a look at that thread, and read it completely before you do anything.
