Default Once You Have Unlock does Reinstalling Apple 3.12 make you lose the unlock?

I had unlocked my iphone 3gs using GeoHot's Blacksnow and had all sorts of difficulties. Lost Push Notifications, lost wifi, etc.
I tried started from scratch by reinstalling Iphone 3.12 firmware. When I do that do I lose my unlock. I'm with AT&T don't have a Tmobile sim so there is no way to test if its unlocked?

FYI, once I reinstalled 3.12, I then reinstalled any Apple App that had push notifications prior to Re-Jailbreaking. That fixed all my push notification apps. Seems unlocking is what breaks the push notifications, not jailbreaking.

What breaks your push is hactivation, not unlock. Every time you restore you lose your unlock.

yep, what people are suggesting is that you do not hactivate (you have an att sim) but go ahead and unlock it. then after the phone activates with the att sim try switching out to another sim to see if push is still working.

    What is hactivation?

I have 3Gs - jb with blackra1n - and I would like to unlock so I can use it with a global SIM while traveling. But after reading about all the push, GPS and Wifi problems people seem to be having I am scared ...

I had jailbroken w/blackrai1n then unlocked by installing blacksn0w using Cydia. I had never taken my ATT Sim out of the iphone. The phone was acitvated on AT&T.
Therefore I could not have hacktivated (not 100% sure what constitutes hactivation) just know that I never put any other Sim in my iphone than an AT&T Sim..so from your description I did not Hactivate.

But I did lose most of my push notification. Some push notification worked, most did not after I simply unlocked a jailbroken. Never could test the unlock as I had no other Sim than an AT&T sim.
