2G "Searching..."

So my phone cannot find service even in normal places where I normally do. I haven't done anything to the phone at all, I haven't changed any firmware or updated it. It was fine one minute, then out of nowhere, it's finding no service. I've got a 2G iPhone with 3.0 installed and unlocked with T-Mobile, any help is appreciated.

try going to airplane mode for a minute or so. then turn it back on
