Im almost there!!! Please help with last step!

iphone 3g working fine when it was unlocked/jailbroken.

Upgraded to 3.1.2 and lost unlock/jailbreak.

WIFI NEVER WORKED, so i had to jailbreak and unlock offline, using pwnage & Diskaid/blacksn0w...

Everything seems to be fine, i am jailbroken (cydia on springboard) and unlocked through DiskAid (added blacksnow etc to iphone through that)

YET, i still have NO BARS!

Tmobile sim card is in the phone

- Tried taking it out
- Tried resetting network settings

What else can i do? Please help!

have you tried BlackRa1n RC3 ??? restore to factory and run BlackRa1nRC3. Then on iphone, run Blackra1n to install Cydia and Blacksn0w. Done.

Thanks so much for your reply, I am so glad someone replied!!! However, im even more confused now!!!

1. I dont have wifi and obvi my 3g doesnt work so i have NO access to the internet on my iphone, how am i supposed to run blacksnow?

2. So i have to restore AGAIN and unlock AGAIN and jailbreak AGAIN?!?!?!?

arghhhhh....you will need wifi. you dont have internet access at home? can you get wifi at home?

Restoring takes 15 minutes or so...Blackra1n take a couple minutes. After this process, your phone has been hacktivated, therefore you can get access to wifi.

Now...that is all you can do for tonight. Tomorrow, take your phone somewhere so that you can get wifi. Then run blackra1n to install Cydia and Blacksn0w. And your phone will be jailbroke and unlocked...that's it.

To customize your phone the way you like, then i guess you can always do that whenever...

Nooo i have wifi in my house, at work, everywhere! But since I bought the unlocked/jailbroken iphone the wifi has NEVER worked. Doesnt detect any networks at all. Ive tried everything to get the wifi working but it never has...that was fine when i was on 3.0.1 because i just used the 3G!

Things ive tried:
Ive jailbroken with blackra1n
Ive jailbroken with pwnage
Unlocked by adding blacksn0w to my usr/lib file through Disk Aid
Ive restored
Ive restored again
Reset network settings
Reset ALL settings
Fooled around with airplane mode
Put the phone in the dumb freezer!

NOTHING WORKS! I read somewhere it might be a broken wifi chip??? Only problem is, im on tmobile, the phone is all hacked so i cant bring to Apple store to get a new wifi chip.

Anyway, I went to great lengths to unlock, jailbreak, and get cydia on my phone while offline...

This seems to be a common problem because when i google around, many people experience broken wifi's after jailbreaking. So this leads me to be SURE that SOMEHOW these people are still able to do a successful unlock when they have zero access to wifi or 3g...I just cant find the answer! Im about to jump off the roof, ive watched every youtube video, read every forum, spend a good 12 hours on this and still completely stuck

I don't know what to tell ya man. Why'd you upgrade from 3.0.1? Was something not working?

My WIFI was not working on 3.0.1 and on Sunday afternoon i was trying to sync up my macbook with my iphone.

I was half way through a bottle of Jameson when itunes prompted me to upgrade to 3.1.2, so i went for it. AWESOME MOVE!

Now i want to die, i am beyond frustrated. I guess I will drink the other half of that bottle now and cry myself to sleep.

Anyone else have any ideas??? Im totally stumped.

Park outside of any hotel with a laptop and you will get wifi. Go to a Starbucks. Bookstores. Airports. Malls. Free wifi.

LI HAVE WIFI! I AM NOT A CAVE WOMAN! I HAVE WIFI IN MY HOUSE, AT WORK, EVERYWHERE!

This is NOT an issue of not having access to wifi, it is an issue of my actual iphone not detecting any networks. Even when im in an area that has 10 strong signals. It has never worked. I have tried every trick in the book to reset it and get it working. I am now at peace with the fact that it does not work. THIS IS NOT THE MAIN PROBLEM BECAUSE I AM SURE MY WIFI CHIP IS PROBABLY BROKEN.

I have the exact problem listed in the following article, and i followed the exact steps. However, I am still not unlocked?

Oh ok. I thought you meant it never worked after your jailbreak. A lot of people are reporting it not working after using blackrain unless you use a workaround.

SOLVED! ON MY OWN. IM SO TECH. I just needed to reboot, im a little slow. Didnt realize that turning the phone on & off isnt the same thing as rebooting. He he.

If anyone needs to unlock their iphone offline, jailbreak using pwnage so that it installs cydia automatically (blacksn0w doesnt install cydia without wifi) then download DiskAid onto your computer and manually drag the 2 blacksn0w files into the specified folders and then you are all set, the phone will be unlocked after a reboot.

Im picking up a full tmobile signal now as well as 3g...wifi still not working but what the hell, i'll take it! Not going to mess around with this anymore.

Wait a second. You can't get 3g on the iphone via tmobile.?

ok, i think i see what happened here, when you install packages via diskaid i've noticed that a reset (hold down power and home button) is required and sometimes more then once to get the packages to install correctly.
