Trouble with iphone 2nd gen 3.1.2 unlock w/bootneuter

tybas, my iphone would only let me do emergency calls before i removed the lockdown folder, so u might want to try removing the folder one more time. the only other option that ive heard works for 2g iphones is downgrading to 3.0 firmware, jailbreaking and unlocking it as 3.0 then upgrading again to 3.1.2 and jailbreaking it again. i hear that the 2g iphones dont lose the unlocking.

this worked for me 11/13/09 iphone 2g 3.1.2 jailbroken with blackra1n. after bootneuter
1- install afc2add from Cydia.
2- Reboot iPhone
3- Download and run DiskAid on your computer: Disk Mode for your iPhone or iPod Touch ? - Download DiskAid for PC Windows and Mac OSX
4- In DiskAid, click on the bottom left and select “root”. Then on the folders go to: private –> var –> root –> library. There you will find a folder named “Lockdown”. Copy this folder to your computer to back it up in case things don't work out.
5- Then click on “Delete from device”.
6- Restart your iPhone.

for some reason i cant get this to work with my GOphone sim card. I followed the steps as directed bit it still tells me no service. i went to carrier in settings and selected at&t but i cant make phone calls. if anyone can help please email me at [email protected] thank u very much

yes.. i confirm that this does work for unlocking 2G 3.12

I jail broke my iphone (2G 3.1.2) with blackra1n, and installed both Cydia and then bootneuter. As the phone was being flashed it appeared frozen. The phone rebooted and i can't do anything with the phone anymore. I get the message "Restore Needed - iPhone cannot make or receive calls. Restore from iTunes"
When I open iTunes i get the error "iTunes cannot activate your iPhone because a SIM card is not inserted or a SIM PIN is required."

I have noticed the my iphone's IMEI and ICCID are both now set to unknown.

Can anybody HELP Please!!!

I done it with blackra1n to jailbreak then instled bootneuter what didnt worked good after thath i folow what MKLOWN wrote and work great.Thank u again MKLOWN.

Can someone please help, I jailbroke my phone with blackrain, then after i unlocked with bootneuter... It said it was unlocked and i could still use the app and everything ok on the phone.... so I deleted the lockdown folder and added the patch using cyberduck. once I did this now now im getting the no sim card installed error, when i slide to unlock it just goes to the emergency phone call screen.... I finally said **** it and did a restore to 3.1.3 atleast i thought , and still no luck.... i wasnt sure if it actually did the upgrade though since it remained in the same prior state after the upgrade so i tried blackra1n again and nothing works!! someone please help before i break this thing =)

I just upgraded my friends 2g to 3.1.2 using custom firmware (activated and jailbroken). As soon as restore was done, full service on t-mobile and cydia installed. Google it.

Here's what's up with me:

Trying to jailbreak+unlock an iphone 2g 3.1.2 for a friend. This phone is activated on at&t, and has never been properly simunlocked (had some turbosim a year ago I think, but that's it)

1. Tried jb+unlock with redsn0w 0.92, got stuck on "waiting to reboot", gave up on that after a few tries and jailbroke with blackra1n.

2. Blackra1n worked fine, cydia installed, I then installed bootneuter.

3. Running bootneuter, it gets stuck on "determining current settings". After a while, a dreaded loss of activation, restore required message appears. I dread it, because error 23 killed my 3GS recently, and now I'm stuck in 3.1.3 jail. No network at this time.

4. Thankfully, rebooting the device restores network fine.

5. This does so consistently. Tried reinstalling bootneuter, rebooting several times, every time I run bootneuter, it gets stuck on determining current settings, loses activation and returns upon reboot.

6. Installed openssh, and tried to delete lockdown folder. Connected with winscp, made backup of it, deleted folder, and rebooted phone.

7. When phone boots, it finds no AT&T signal. Thankfully, wifi still works, and returning the lockdown folder and rebooting returns the at&t carrier signal.


What am I doing wrong..?

I just wanna sim-unlock this phone for her, as she's travelling. She's not particularly interested in jailbreak otherwise (unlike me...).

i have my iphone 2g unlock i get service but sometimes my bars go full to 1 bar is it normal or is it my unlock i have firmware 3.1.2 and 4.05.04 i used blackra1n and bootneuter should i use mklovn method.

my method is for unlocking the iphone when your phone show a carrier other than at&t(t-mobile in my case) but only lets you do emergency calls. i doubt it will help your signal problem, but i dont think it will hurt anything to try it. if you decide to try my method, please let me know if it helped.

I am still having this problem. iOS 3.1.2, jailbroken with Spirit.app, then i flashed it as per instructions with bootneuter, but it would not accept my T-Mobile sim, so I deleted the folder, as you instructed, and now it will not accept the O2 sim that it previously was happy with nor the T-Mobile, though both come up as having signal. Still iTunes says it is an unsupported sim.

So I am a little confused. Have we any other ideas?

I have not yet upgraded to 3.1.3, however after much faffing, i restored 3.1.2, then jailbroke with blackra1n, then used bootneuter, and now it all works a treat.

I tried to do the custom firmware but I kept getting 1600 error messages. I attempted to get around this by using the iREB program, but the iREB v3.1.2 link was broken for the 2G icon, and the v4.0-4.1 iREB doesn't have the option for 2G. How did you get around the error messages?
