Cheapest data plan from T-Mobile, and how to get it

I've recently acquired a T-Mobile SIM card from a friend, and I was looking to activate it to give my iPhone a data plan. (I've been using the iPhone as basically an iPod Touch since I bought it from a friend) I've never had a phone before so I don't know much about this stuff at all.

I'm not interested in voice or text, just data. I don't care if it's edge.

I have heard of people getting $24.99 unlimited data, but was unable to find that on there site. I have heard that the best way to get a better rate is to call their customer service.
