- I downloaded and installed blackra1n onto my Iphone then ran the program
- Upon doing so i downloaded and installed Cydia onto my phone as well.
- I then downloaded and installed Bootneuter
- I turned my phone's setting to "never" in lock, then hit "Flash" on Bootneuter. Once I hit flash a popup comes up and says "Nothing to do"
- I then took out the AT&T sim card and placed my T-Mobile Sim card into the Iphone. The Iphone then says the Sim is invalid for the phone and i need to connect to Itunes...what am i doing wrong? why isnt my phone unlocked?
Secondly, If i am unable to unlock my phone is there a way to restore it to its original condition now that Blackra1n, Cydia, and Bootneuter are installed?
Please be stepwise in your response and thorough. Thanks ahead of time =)
Due to my first attempt being a failure - I restored my phone using Itunes to its original condition...But I am still interested in Unlocking my phone - What do you suggest i do differently this time around?
The phone says invalid SIM because you started with your AT&T SIM first and then switched it and it messes with the activation file. Take out your ATT SIM and restore.. then use blackra1n to jailbreak and activate the phone. Finally download Cydia.. then bootneuter.
*sigh* Thanks alot guys - Unfortunatly there is something still wrong. First I followed both your advice to the T. Upon doing so I hit "FLASH" on Bootneuter 2.1 and it says "Nothing to do". I then became frustrated and decided to stray from the path a little and instead of setting bootneuter to the correct setting of 4.6, i set it to 3.9 and then flashed it. The program flashed. Upon doing so the phone restarted and i put in my Tmobile sim. The phone now seems to not be able to find any carrier, but seems unlocked.
Try flashing back to 4.6?... The only other thing to do would be to DFU restore down to 3.0 and use redsn0w to jailbreak and unlock. This does the unlock prior to the phone actually booting up so it doesn't error out. After this the phone will be PERMANENTLY unlocked as the baseband will not change when you upgrade back to 3.1.2.
i have a 2g iphone on 3.1.2 firmware. I used blackra1n to jailbreak and bootneuter to unlock but its still saying different sim card, connect to itunes. It has my tmobile cariier in the upper leeft with bars. Any suggestions??
Yea...still no luck over here - I may do the downgrade to 3.0 method but dont feel comfortable with doing it now until i read up more on how to do so. Have people been commenting on problems with their 2G's? It was my impression bootneuter was designed for OS's/and Firmwares which were lesser than 3.1.2/4.05.04_G...But who knows, im admittedly a noob
Put in DFU mode.. hold shift and hit restore.. select the 3.0 firmware. After it's done run redsn0w 0.8 to jailbreak and unlock. After it's done you can then restore to 3.1.2 which will keep your unlock and just use blackra1n to jailbreak.
