Should I Jailbreak with PwnageTool instead of Blackra1n due to the problems??

Hey everyone... I jailbreak/unlocked my iPhone 3GS with Blackra1n/Blacksn0w but it bugs me at the fact that I always have to "Reset Settings" for my WiFi to work. I am thinking about restoring and Re-Jailbreaking with PwnageTool instead and then Unlocking with BlackSn0w... Has anyone done this? Do you think this would be better and will fix the Blackra1n problem of WiFi not working? Also I read that Blackra1n isn't a tethered JB unlike PwnageTool?

Ummm interesting question... I am also curious about knowing the answer to this, but jailbreaking with RedSnow isntead of pwnage tool.

First off, tethered JB has NOTHING to do now with the method of JB (Pwnage or Blackra1n). It has EVERYTHING to do with the device you have. If you have an ipod Touch 3rd gen OR an iPhone with a build week of 40 or 2009 or higher (basically bought new in the last 2-3 weeks), THEN you have a device that will require a tethered JB NO MATTER the program/method you use to JB. IF you have any other device, then you do not require a tethered JB.

A tethered JB means you have to connect your device to a PC every time you reboot the phone.

Second, if you have already tried BR/BS, then that means you are on 3.1.2 firmare with 5.11 baseband. Then YOU NOW CANNOT USE PwnageTool or a custom IPSW to get back to 4.26, which is unlockable by Ultrasn0w. If you need to unlock, your ONLY choice now is BR/BS.

If you don't care about unlock, and only want JB, then yes, you can use PwnageTool or a custom IPSW with 3.1.2 firmware and 5.11 baseband. OR, you could simply use BR only. Just use Blackra1n, and don't install Blacksn0w. The issues that people are having are BS related, not BR.

Okay my 3GS wasn't bought within the last 3 weeks so I guess I do not require the tethered JB.

Yes I'm on 3.1.2 and 5.11 now but I wanted to just Jailbreak with PwnageTool and then Unlock with Blacksn0w (unlock the 5.11 baseband)
So the issues with the WiFi having to "Reset Network" in order to work are related with the Unlock (blacksn0w) and not the Jailbreaking method? I thought the problem was with the Blackra1n Hacktivation process.
I read that if you activate your phone by just putting in an AT&T Sim (or Jailbreaking with another program like Redsn0w or PwnageTool) and just use "blacksn0w" to unlock the 5.11 baseband you wont have the wifi issues. Can anyone shed some info on this?

You cannot jailbreak official 3.1.2 with redsn0w or pwnage. You have to use BR. Only a custom built ipsw can be jailbroken. I tried it and it didn't work. The issues with wifi is due to blacksn0w trust me..As we all know we used to have these iphones as ipods before geo created blacksn0w and we never had any wifi issues after Jailbreaking init? So all of a sudden wifi issues after unlocking? Hope that clicks something in your braincell?

I restored my blackra1ned 3GS with a pwned (custom) 3.1.2 ipsw and then installed blacksn0w and my wifi has not failed since. Your mileage may vary but I'm very happy so far

Have you tried to log in to a wifi that requires a password and then reboot your iphone? Thats the problem I'm having sometimes the wifi will keep working even after reboots but when I log into any wifi that requires a password the wifi will start acting up.

I did the pwnage jailbreak on the 3.1 with the 5.11 bb. All I did was go to manage in cydia and typed in blackra1n.com for source and installed blacksnow from there. I have no issues and I am still on 3.1. I don't know whats different from 3.1 to 3.1.2, Does anyone know
